So when you say we should have most days in France to apply for getting a visa from France does it also mean that we have to arrive from India to France. Because I plan on reaching to Paris and spend 3 nights in Paris and then go to Switzerland for 4 nights and 5 nights in Italy. If this is the itinerary should I be applying to Italian embassy?

Yes, point of entry doesn't matter. You have to consider which country you are planning to spend most days. If you are planning to spend an equal number of days in 2 countries, then the first country you are going to visit will be the one where you should apply for a Visa.
