Frame By Frame: Walking
Фильм және анимация

This is about as practical a frame by frame as can be so I hope it's helpful! I did two versions: The one with only 4 frames is for beginners who are learning the basics of walk cycles, and the 6 frame is for those who want to smooth it out more. As you can see, those two extra frames make a world of difference.
And look out for some cool new brickfilms coming soon!

There are so many ways to do it, I do it in 5 frames without clay and moving 1 stud each cycle. However i'm impressed by yours 6 frame cycle. Excellent share!

That's one of the ways I've been doing it, but I haven't uploaded any of those videos though.
Hey there man, Generalned from BiM here, firstly Welcome back man, its great to see you back here, I have been a fan of your films for quite some years lol, its been that long, anyhow I noticed that you made a tutorial section now, which is fantastic, since your looking for advice on what kind of tutorials you should do next, may I suggest some of the following, one for putting audio with a character talking, lip syncing, light saber effect, fire effect, blur effect, sword fight tutorial, possibly one for making sets, gun shot tutorial including how to do the flare, would be great. Thats all I can think of for now, would really like see any of these get done! Welcome back once again!
Awesome!
best walk cycle ever:)
Cool!
awesome!
Awesome
Oh, I always made the guy move one stud at a time, no wonder it looked so slow! My main problems with stop motion are patience and trying to grand. I'm always trying to make long really complex car chases and such when I haven't even got the basics of making a fig walk down!
Sweet song, good video
could you do a tutorial on how to do first person brick films please?
@cantputeddylol

its kinda hard but build some type of rig or just build a tripod and move it 1 stud per frame and hold the minifigs hand on the side of the screen and you should get a decent one but for the firstperson stop motion im making i make a tripod (using method above)and then make a rig for the arm so it stays in place or you could use clay/playdoh to stick it to the brick to make it easier. :)
Nice job.
Nice
Nice job! Good tutorial! Is this the one you use in all your videos?
Fantastic video! What music was in the background? I really liked it :)

could you do a car skid
Please. Can you tell me how program you use?
Most of the shots on cycle I fail to replicate without use of putty, is putty used in the cycle shots? Because when I try to balance the figure as displayed in the shots he just falls over.

In the first cycle I didn't use any putty because there's just one in between frame, but on the second cycle I do use putty.

Okay, that was kind of cool. I like that your tip for something that for some reason I struggle with was uploaded on my birthday. Anyways, nice video.
Could you make one on vehicle movement? Thanks!
Looks so cool! Did you find this cycle to be better than previous ones?
Do you use a certain type of software or something that makes the pictures transition to each other better because it seems so smooth
Nice tutorial. Can u do one on running
Nice
Certainly a straightforward cycle that can be reproduced, but honestly there needs to be more lead in and out for the frames the figure has hist foot down on a stud. A good walk cycle will require a bit of balancing, with the figure partially leaning off the grid of studs for all but the middle and end of the cycle, if at all

Yeah I know what you mean. The point of this wasn't to create the best walk cycle imaginable, but to give beginner and intermediate examples that are fairly easy to use. But I agree that if you really wanted to you could make it much better.

And that's obviously a respectable choice. There would be little use in showcasing, say, a flawless 24fps, support rigged cycle that nobody would have a chance of reproducing.

Haha yeah. But on the other hand, that would be pretty sweet. I'd watch it :)
I noticed some blue stuff under the feet. Is that to keep the minfig from falling over? what is it?

hhm, that was pretty simple jordan, but i do realize your approach, maybe you could do a beginner and expert walk cycle! (hint hint)
Can you please make a Star Wars shooting tutorial ?
looks more like a run cycle, you shouldent do the full skip 1 stud thing just go in between each stud

First click the 'My channel' button, then click 'video manager' click the button the says 'create' (it has a little video camera icon on it) and it will bring up a music page, change the 'mood' button to 'funky' and it will be the third one called 'not to cray' then just download it (P.S. if you can't get it just tell me and I can make a video response)
I want the one on flat base plates not on dots I want the one in your vids
