Head of the Ensemble - Ekaterina Ptitsova
Musicians - high school students (11-15 years old)
On a sunny spring day in the concert “Spring Drops” of the string department of the Children's Art School named after S.T. Richter, teachers and students presented an excellent musical program, which included music from different times, countries, styles and movements.
The school's string orchestra and ensemble are distinguished by a true European classical culture of ensemble performance, following the best traditions and respect for the finest details and nuances of works, combined with a rarely encountered broad musical outlook, requiring virtuoso mastery of the theme, which is the main merit of the orchestra's conductor, Peter Gladysh, who inspires a lot years of young musicians for musical experiments.
An active creative position in relation to the humorous author's intention,
Vivid artistry and virtuoso pizzicato skills were demonstrated in the performance of the play "Plink, Plank, Plunk" by LeRoy Anderson (1908-1975), an American composer, conductor and arranger, awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, author of the most hilarious popular works.
A re-interpretation of famous rock singles, in tune with modern times, and a wonderful arrangement by M. Koval-Volkova, specially created for this work, with the participation of electric guitar and bass guitar, amazed the audience when the musicians performed a cover version of the 1987 single “Fragile” by Sting ( Sting) world famous British rock musician from his album "Nothing Like the Sun" (Nothing Like the Sun). This famous anthem song, which has become the author's calling card, glorifies good creation in spite of violence, recalling the fragility of our common world.
The famous Foxtrot "Tahiti Trot" by Dmitry Shostakovich (1906-1975) sounded great in his new orchestration, created on a bet in 45 minutes after listening to a recording of the song orchestrated by Fomin, made by him for his operetta "The Career of Pierpont Blake" (1926). The arrangement by M. Koval-Volkova added many new interesting details to the foxtrot.
The director of the string ensemble, Ekaterina Ptetsova, manages to excite and intellectually captivate even an unprepared listener in every performance, giving him the joy of communicating with musical masterpieces,
And, of course, the musicians themselves deserve special gratitude - high school students aged 11-15, whose names we deliberately do not name now in the hope that they themselves will say their new musical word in the near future! (A.A. Sinitsyna)
