Fractal Design Meshify 2 Mini Review: Overview and Build (Part 1/2)

Ғылым және технология

Here's part 1 of the Meshify 2 Mini review. Let me know what you think of the 2 part format. It allows me to keep all the detail while keeping each video a reasonable length, but the whole review is going to be 45 minutes long... doesn't seem right for a case review... hmmm... anyway, enjoy the Fractal Design Meshify 2 Mini Review (Part 1/2)

    If you know what card you're going to get, check out how long the card is, then compare it to the cases GPU clearance number. You should be able to find both figures in the specification lists of each component. Let me know how you get on.

    Thanks for the superb review!!! I am just mounting the meshify 2 mini and i have some trouble with the audio cable. Find it quite short! What is the ideal route to manage it? Thanks so much in advance. Toni.

    Is there a way to put the steel side panel on the side where the glass normally sits? Would love to have the steel panel on both sides.

    Great and most importantly honest review. I'm just in the process of purchasing a new case and excel comparison table you mentioned would be great if you could share the link. Thanks

    I'm not in the market for a new case (or so my wallet keeps telling me) but I still enjoy every second of these videos. You have a knack for finding those quirks other reviews never tell the viewer about - either because they never found out, or because they didn't realise there is useful information to be conveyed here. The brute force - and tools - needed to disassemble key parts of the case certainly looks worrying; if you struggle with your 14" guns I can only imagine the expletive-ridden ordeal this would present to us regular PC builders.

    15Not sure what is happening in the PC case industry, but is going down. I have owned the first edition Meshify C. I have also owned the Define C and a R4. Now I'm using an ARC Midi R2 (found a new old stock on eBay) and this is absolutely stunning. The further you go back in time, the better build quality and space optimisation cases had. I'm a big Fractal fan, but they are letting me down, year after year. The same goes for other manufacturers: Cooler Master, Thermaltake, Corsair, Antec, Lian Li, Phanteks. The old cases were a lot better. When you touch a 10-15 years old case, it screams quality.

    I felt the same about the Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 3. That was built like a tank, and it's not that old, but pre-tempered glass. I still have an old Antec Tower 300, and yeah, that's an absolute tank too. Really heavy, and doesn't use retained thumbscrews :D There's still some good value to be found today, but I think you're right, it's not on the same level as it was a while back. Just googled for a review of the Tower 300, and it was $70 when it came out. That's great build quality for the price. Maybe I should do a comparison between it, and a $70 Antec case today? Seems like it could be a good idea.

    Maybe. I'm struggling to have a lot of time for videos at the moment. Work is really busy so I'm doing what I can for the time being. I was going to cover the Define 7 cases (or one of them at least), but at the time I'd reviewed about 3 Fractal cases very close to eachother so I didn't want to get too Fractal heavy. I'll have another look soon.

    Yeah, I'm not a fan of these "tool-free" panels. I feel like the cables from the inside might push the panel open. Honestly, they should just stick to thumb screws, it's a robust tried-and-true mechanism which is still easy for the user.

    OK, I have full appreciation for an in depth case review but, I already own this case and want to say a few things to critique this review. The most aggregious thing I noticed. This reviewer must have WEAK HANDS or a damaged case. I got this and pulled the entire case apart within 2 minutes, no guide or manual. I looked at the pull tab, I pulled the tab, minimal force, enough that it wouldn't pop off if I wiggled it or tapped it but it's EASY to remove using any strength at all. Same goes for the top and front panels. I have SMALL hands, im not a big muscular person. This case has been the easiest case for me to build in, despite being one of the smallest I've built in. My things I did dislike about the case, the type c usb port on the top is DIFFICULT to match a motherboard with, and there aren't many good places to find M-ATX boards with USB-C connectors. Even more modern boards don't seem to have them, so this case feature is useless without an adapter that takes up more of your cases minimal GPU airflow. Just a few of the things I wanted to mention

  • @AVTechy

    @AVTechy

    Жыл бұрын

    Fair comment. Sounds like you had a better time with the panels. Worth knowing for prospective owners. There is a third option though, and that could be related to manufacturing tolerance. There is the chance that your case was in the loose end of the spectrum, and mine was on the very tight end. Or I just have weak hands. Sorry, WEAK HANDS.

  • @LonestarROB
    @LonestarROB Жыл бұрын

    Both side panels are exactly the same and easy to remove. You were clearly purposely pushing on the glass side panel when trying to remove it. And moved your fingers to the top edge, i.e. not on the panel, to remove the solid side panel. Otherwise, good overall overview.

  • @AVTechy

    @AVTechy

    Жыл бұрын

    I did put a note in to clarify that any of my fingers on the panel weren't pressing against the panel, they were just resting in that position. And I did place shots where my fingers were well clear of the panel as well to ensure a comment like this wouldn't happen. But its actually really awkward to completely remove your other fingers from the equation and catch the panel as it come off. It gets easier over time, but it's initially really tough. It's just a tough panel to use. I don't gain by saying it, I just attract comments complaining about my honest critique.

  • @LonestarROB

    @@AVTechy Honest critique is a good thing. Just found it weird that you "struggled" so much getting the panel off when pretty much every single other review of this case talks about how easy the panels come off as one of the only "cons" to this case. Maybe you got a faulty case 🤷 . I had this case myself and the panel is extremely easy to remove. Far easier than 90% of other cases.
