FPV Chase - How to Stay Behind a Much Slower Plane?
Ойын-сауық
Immersive RC plane chase using head-tracking FPV from the cockpit of iconic Flightline Spitfire MK IX 1.6m warbird (6s) vs E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.2m (4s), a much slower plane. Due to notable speed differences between the two, Spitfire has to use some basic fighter maneuvers to stay behind the T-28. Head tracking FPV camera enables each pilot to intuitively look at wingman through aerobatic maneuvers simply by moving his head without losing sight. It's the most immersive, realistic flying experience possible flying a RC plane.

Never get tired of your videos, the more realistic models the better.. the fact you have the same issues as in a real Spitfire is just fantastic

Thank you for the feedback! That’s why I love flying scale models, too. To relive full scale pilots experience as they see it in the cockpit. Their stories make more sense that way🙂
Please more uploads! This Chanel got me into this hobby and I can’t wait to be able to get this stuff

I think in real life the frame around the cockpit windows aren't as much as a problem as it is for an FPV camera. The reason is that we have two eyes, so as long as the frame isn't too thick, one eye can always see past it. Try holding up a thumb at arm's length. Of you close one eye, you can completely cover an object from your view, but with two eyes open you can't. Very cool video btw.

Good explanation, I agree! Also eyes on pilot are not fixed, pilots torso can lean forward/ back and side to side to look around the frame.

Yes, the video quality in my FPV goggles is as good as shown. 1080P 100FPS real time (30ms latency) high definition video without noise. Can even record in 4K. Love this stuff man, a Mosquito or a P38 Lightning would be awesome, looking at the props and having a clear field of view not affected by a prop. That said, from a viewers perspective, the only thing making it standout immediately as RC is the speed at which the plane rolls and banks. If you play the video at .75%. or even .5%, it looks super realistic. I wonder: would there be a way to slow limit controls so the movement becomes more proportional to the real thing?

On unusually cold/damp days, it does drift a bit on start up. Drift diminishes once it warmed up. There’s a center button that can be pressed to center the gimbal servos.
what source should I use on my frsky x20 (ethos) for the pan and tilt channels? (trainer1 ??) I've got the bluetooth trainer enabled and I can see the inputs from the HT in the radio but they aren't moving the pan tilt servos.
@motionsic

Which channel signals are moving on the trainer screen? They should be the ones you specified in the HT app on PC. Our head-tracker default channels are 7 & 8. On the mixer page, you need to assign the correct source TrainerX and active condition to a switch, so you can activate and deactivate the gimbal servos. Once activated, you can see the signal on output.
