I haven't gotten the game, but I've heard that it's ranking system is sorta useless since Logi players can ascend beyond the rank of people who actually lead pushes and stuff, because of commendations or something.

As a 2nd lieutenant myself I endorse these trenches solely to anger the higher ranks outstanding work

there's definitely an argument to be made about how trenches can lose you ground, but simply having as much goomba energy as you do cancels out any possibility of the enemy possibly using your own fortifications against you

@@spartan-1210 a badly built trench system can be easily used by the enemy as well as your own troops. many newbies who just figured out you can build trenches will spam them without attaching barbed wire or sandbags to make them ineffective if the enemy get's in. also, AI bunkers are usually just outright better if you're building next to a bunker base. it can provide allies cover inside the bunker without the enemy even being able to get in, and it still shoots at approaching vehicles and infantry.

Best way to lose a front is report half of your team on it and getting them to leave because you're being a bully who hates trenches. As someone with over 3k hours, I went through the no trenches phase, but you need to realize it's a game for having fun, and if they don't listen to you the first time you ask politely; IT'S DIGGIN' TIME. Keep up the good work o7.

Yeah no…. You’d rather make a few trenches with barbed wire or… 4 rifle garrisons and 2 AT garrisons? One takes artillery to take out after hours of struggling and repairing…. Or a trench that gets take over with in literal minutes or even seconds.

Good way to explain it. If you can't beat em, join em. As for the other guy trying to suggest trenches are useless and he knows because he's in the military. Gonna call bullshit, otherwise the Russia-Ukraine war wouldn't be heavily using them currently.

This is why I just became a full time medic in Foxhole. My motto? “To heal and save the stupid and special.” Also, “we have shirts- We can kill” is great. Never doubt the brilliance of the stupid in a bad situation.

The “we have shirts-we can kill” reminds me of my time a couple wars ago (can’t remember which) where the province was surrounded, and we held on for 2 days with nothing but pistols, literally everything else was scavenged from the enemy. We literally pulled a Russian propaganda and did “rifle sharing.” If the man with the rifle fell, you pick up that rifle.

getting killed and then runing straight back to that same spot just to get killed again is basically division in foxhole

The only “orders” I’ve ever given were “fight to the last man! If we have shirts, we have free ammo!” Or “This bb about to fall. Use it or lose it” (talking about nades, RPGs, MGs, etc…)

I had the same experience with some high-ranked dude when I was building trenches. He was all pissed that I was building defenses in a spot "his regiment claimed"... I pretended I didn't have a mic and continued digging. If his approach had been "hey man, love the effort and here's how you can do it better" I'd have listened. Just these assholes who have a holier-than-thou attitude because they put 1000s of hours into a video game rub me the wrong way.

I am 100s of hours in, yet even if people are brand new, go and offer them a seat in the vehicle or show around how to build, if they make bad defences/trenches whatever, its part of the learning process. Losing because you are having fun is better than winning without having fun.

I think if it was just couple players doing it every now and then they would have this friendly attitude, but if you go to any front during any stage of the war you will find at least couple players digging trenches, every time, and about 60-70% chance they won't stop because their voice-chat is not turned on or they don't speak english or they just don't care and want to build trenches. You can look at it the casual way of playing for the experience or you can look at it the tryhard way of playing to end with results, winning the front, winning the hex, winning the war. Trenches are some of if not the least useful defense you could make and especially if spammed (as they nearly always are) get frustrating to deal with. It poisons the land for any builders to build actual defenses, it limits or restricts vehicle movement (usually for friendlies) and it turns infantry dynamic combat into grenade spamming and bayoneting because there is cover simply everywhere and take too many explosives to ever remove, especially because of husks. Not saying it justifies a shitty attitude, but you should understand it's not veteran's job explaining to every single new player why spammed trenches are bad and not every veteran that arrives to a front wants to undertake teaching a newbie something as complex as why not to build trenches or why fill them in, because they obviously will ask that question, whether you ask them nicely or not. It's the stereotype of newbie in this game, a Pvt digging trench after trench. Most don't approach them as individual players but just one of the many trench diggers that litter the front with garbage structures that will help the enemy as much as they help you now. You can't build on the front casually and be useful, that's just how developers made this system, either you plan it out and build with your regiment piece by piece or it ends up being a chaotic mess with number of weakpoints enemy can and will exploit, eventually.

@@Laireso I absolutely agree with you there but some people go beyond getting peeved, my friend was getting screamed at because he wasn't pushing forward when a field gun was decrewed, it was ear deafening and it was only like his second time on the game, I just think we really need to call out the people who treat it like real life because it can ruin the experience for a lot of laid back players

If someone comes up to me in game and starts commanding me to do shit, I dont do it, especially if they're loud or impolite. Who the hell are you? What are you gonna do if I dont? If they're polite, I'll do what they say, even if I dont fully agree with it.

Mortar house is op. Imagine having someone run you shells. The 100 meter range, the better accuracy. Many pushes have been stopped by those.

Literally dealt with a situation like this with a different colonial streamer, he attacked my guys in the regiment verbally over a joke from him leading enemies to us and we died, then we made a comment while he was streaming and I was reported, later on we started digging foxholes everywhere and he started using his “streamer privilege” and try getting quite a few of my guys banned for griefing, streamers have no fun and are hella controlling in this game, attacking children for no reason, yelling at others but can’t take any back, and using their streaming power to get us mass reported

Man I remember when I stole about 3k Bmats for WN during one war from the French Clan. Our Clan Leader said get Bmats he didn't say where to get them from.

Had almost the exact same thing happen to me with Larry. He got me build restricted AND THEN TOLD ME TO FILL IN THE TRENCHES!!! You can't do that when build restricted.

What a coincidence that I happen to be playing Foxhole earlier and dying from mortar fire that was seemingly like the act of god with how accurate and timely they were. I literally stopped in place to heal a dude for 2 secs and got a mortar round dropped directly on my skull killing me instantly. I had a suspicion it may have been a mortar house, but I've never had the chance to use them during the day to see their brilliance.

Shame to see BadmanLarry be like this, I've seen his name crop up a bunch and he seemed fairly smart. This proves otherwise, he could of just asked once and left, if he spent more time playing and less time complaining then maybe more would actually get done.

He forgets he has no real authority and that it is just a game, and games are meant for play and the definition of play is to "engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose" . People like him are what make games not fun.

The thing about trenches, is that if you build the fancy addons the right way, like barbed wire and sandbags; there's no problem with building trenches. People like Badman Larry are just old ass boomers who can't get their minds out of the part of the game when there were no trench addons, lmao

God, no lifers screaming at people they are playing wrong will never not be hilarious. Though, to be fair, badly made trenches lose us fights. Only problem here is that when you’re an asshat giving orders, people tend to not listen. Are they jaded and annoyed at repeating the same things over and over again to new players? Probably, but they should know the power of “fuck you, I don’t take no orders” energy, especially in games.

If he ever goes colonial again, ill join you in digging and recruit a load of peeps to help aswell!
