Veteran player here. Nearly 1,000 hours of play time and 40 wars of experience. The one advice I would like to repeat what moidog said. Ask questions. If you are ever confused on what to do in game or don't understand something, don't be afraid to ask someone. The overwhelming vast majority of the time someone will answer your question, sometimes a player will take time to meet up with you in game and show or "walk" you through the problem you are having. Sometimes you may find Veteran players hanging around the training course in the home region willingly to teach new players about the game.

@@ohio Well the thing about this game, is that killing isn't everything, and the player community in the game knows this. It is often said that the traditional K/D ideals don't work in this game, because they don't. This game is more then just a top-down shooter. It is more or less a War simulator. Were support play is can be and sometimes will be far more important then just playing offensive. There are many support roles to do that is required to make the offensive play successful. Harvesting, producing, and running logistics. Securing/protecting logistic routes. Partisaning/attacking enemy logistic routes. Building/maintaining defenses, building new defenses to secure taken ground. Scouting enemy defenses, scouting enemy counter attacks, defending flanks, using/helping artillery crews behind line, and so many other. Think of all of the real support roles used in real life militaries, that don't involve being directly on the frontline. A large portion of those can be used and are essential in game. Finally the beauty of this game is that you are free to choose which ever role you want, even at a moments notice.... So long the base has the equipment you need to preform that task. Be sure to group up with other players or ask around what you can do to help. Remember this is a extremely team oriented game. The more of you there are, so long as it's organized and minorly discipline, the more effective you will be.

that was the first question i had when i saw this game. how is the community or does the game enforce cooperation. seems like the kind of game that totally depends on player behaviour to make it fun or not.

In my first 10 minutes i was picked up by a random guy in a jeep. He gave me some quick tips, dropped me off at a forward base, told me to grab a rifle and ammo, and told me the war was accrossed the bridge and good luck. 30 minutes later a random clan was walking me and 4 other new random players through a quick lesson on artillery and we where firing into the heated front line. An hour later we where rushing around in a panick packing up said artillery as our front line collapsed. I love this game and the community is amazing.

This one is restricted from colonials due to the needed chadness percentage to understand the massive amount of testosterones the Wardens produce which Moi uses in this video. Therefore I highly recommend you make a video for your lesser cognitively developed Greenskins.

Never previously considered doing espionage. Going with a small group and just stealing anything unlocked seems like a great way to possibly turn the tides of battle

Played my first game with a couple buddies last night, first actual thing we did after tutorial was raid a nearby enemy relic base/trench network and steal everything not nailed down. So much fun.

Here are some tips for new players 1. always try be in higher elevation than your opponent or with high cover, it wil make it easier to shoot them and make it harder for them to shoot you. But becareful because most people know about this fact and might throw grenade at that specific spot 2. try to line up your shoot behind the enemy instead of at the enemy, it will make it easier to land a hit because you will see the bullet path, where the white line becomes red at the enemy body 3. make sure to try both faction to know the difference between each faction weapon and vehicle, as every faction weapon and vehicle have different advantage. For example, colies frag grenade can be thrown farther than warden's frag grenade , but wardens frag grenade can be thrown higher. 4. once in a while try to do different roles than usual, it will give you more perspective about the situation around you. For example, if you spend most of your time in the front line as a soldier trying to destroy a bunker base, try to be a builder, this will make you understand the range of each defensive building, thus making it easier to try to avoid enemy defense to find weak point to attack 5. use foxholestat website to see which hex you want to spawn. in foxholestat there are 2 number that indicates the casualities per hour for each hex, if you want to go to the frontline just look at which hex has higher number 6. dont bring too much stuff if you are going to the frontline, most of the time you can just loot equipment from bodies laying around 7. if you want to be a medic, bring no more than 5-7 bandage and 5 blood plasma (with your trauma and medic kit reloaded with 1 plasma and 1 bandage), most of the time those are more than enough. 8. Dont try to run to save people when you still have alot of items, you might get encumbered and become slower, thus making it easier to be killed by enemies. Only do it if you are certain that you will be protected or you dont have alot of items, thus enabling you to run faster. You also might want to unequip your weapon before reaching the bodies to make it faster to pick them up, dont forget to move around when picking up bodies (circling around them, etc) to make it harder to be shot by enemies 9. for specific weapon with low ammount of ammo, you might want to bring more ammo than usual (1-2 extra clip). example of this type of weapon are fuscina rifle for colies, and hangman for warden 10. if you see multiple enemies runing together to the same direction, they might be trying to do bayonet/grenade rush

Can't emphasize the need for players to stop taking 6-7 magazines from the base while spawning. Either scavenge the guns from the front lines or take a gun with no more than 3 mags. That's more than enough for 90% of situations and chances are you won't get the chance to spend your 36 rounds. It is real players who spend time to make each of those things and front lines should use them sparingly. If possible, try to scavenge the stuff lying around on the field and submit it back to the base.

Now, what about grenades? I find myself wishing I had a grenade quite often and started taking 1 on spawn

9:25 I would also like to add that you can see how far vertically up your aim point is via the yellow line going down from your aim cursor. By default it tries to aim at roughly chest height, but obviously there may be circumstances where you want to aim at targets above or below the default, so pay attention to the yellow line in that instance to see if you’re aiming at what you intend or would otherwise miss over/under.

The repair count is not unlimited. Its 3 people per structure piece. So if someone builds a 3x3 bunker core, then 27 people and contribute to repairs, with only 3 people per section. A 3x1 rifle garrison can have 9 people repairing it, but they need to be hitting multiple sections

How do you become an engineer? Do you just need to grab supplies and use your hammer? Or do you need an uniform like for the medic classes?

One of my favorite things playing the game, was when I would do recon and sabotage missions solo behind enemy lines. Placing mines on the road, stealing vehicles, and misdirection with text chat. Fond memories for me

@@toshiroyamada2443 I've never seen that happen personally but I wouldn't put it past certain petty people doing it. But overall it is a fun game. You can help with logistics or on the frontline and you don't need to be online all the time. I got over 300 hours on the damn game.

I dunno about beginners jumping into a tank unless they’re accompanied by a vet that’ll teach them. Just a few days ago I saw a private hop in a tank and drive it off a destroyed bridge (also crushing a few friendlies on the way). Didn’t take long for the enemy to jump on the opportunity and wreck it before it could be saved. Tanks, and other such vehicles, are built by players and are costly. They don’t just spawn in. But yeah, if someone is trying to recruit people to join in on their tanks, go for it. Learning IS important, but you don’t just instantly start heart surgery without a little training beforehand.

lol I was that shitter you mogged with a pistol in the first highlight reel. I literally mag-dumped and missed every shot XD. I got foxhole earlier that day after I saw your videos about the last war. Since then me and a friend I got into foxhole have been running around Deadlands/Callahan's Passage getting commendations for holding down T and yelling dumb shit. Truly a 10/10 experience so far in victory, defeat, or mammon suicide rush. Thanks for the tutorial and taking me to school in-game.

11:43 I’d like to add that there is a button to quickly hand in your starter gear at the base. You generally won’t need it as a beginner.

Great tutorial for the newbies, should prob add "need explosives to destroy most buildings", how cover is based on direction, and how the shield turns red and can be broken with suppression.

18:00 its worth noting that not all friendly bases and structures are visible. They should only be visible if they're under friendly observation range, from watch towers and observation bunkers/towers. That said I haven't played in a few wars so maybe they've changed this? Hiding from friendly watch towers is used by SOME people to hide vehicles or hide some operations from streams/alts etc. Kind of surprised this guide didn't seem to just be a "step by step to actually play the game" kind of thing though. From my experience teaching players, the order they want info on is usually like, how to deploy to an active front first, then how to get items and fight. A lot of times I find players not getting into the strategic aspect of the game until a few days later. Either way, great video, I just think it has an odd distribution of info, but it covers lots of useful stuff.

Man, this is a *great* idea for a game! Although I heard that mass reporting bans are a major problem right now. If you try to expose a cheater, they will mass report your account and you will get perm banned. If this gets fixed, I'm buying it.

I've been playing for almost 100 hrs now and I've never been mass reported or anything. Most of the time people are helping or just don't care what you're doing. And if you're still doubting try Baker or Charlie shards for better experience.

I dont see any cheaters ever but im just infantry, the only time i had a problem was when I TKed a guy bugging me and i told him t F off so he ran me over later so i TKed him then his clan came at me after getting my weapins locked. Its best to just ignore them and relocate. But that was once out of 600 hours. There is an annoying player type for 10 min every 3 or 4 hours who larps as an angry commander but has no clue of the situation before logging out after 20 mins of screaming but 90% players are cool and funny.

I watch these because there are little to no other videos that give game commentary, like retrospective type stuff

wow nice guide ! to the point to essentials for new players. This is a ultimate start for a good serie of guides. Make some about building bases and upgrades. There is alot of videos about it but they are very long and boring. I love the "on the side" quick tips. There were somes i didnt know even after 80hours of play

Yeah contested area. I played a bit yesterday (i am new) and there is guns, but no ammo. You have to kill enemies to get their guns and ammos (we ran with pistols all the time) then i did logi jobs. Like mined scraps, made basic building supplies then made gun and ammo crates. Then sent my car to warehouse and now its our.

Im getting this game in a few hrs..hope the community is as pleasant as it was presented.

Great video. Maybe a new updated version could be a boon, especially now that we are getting wet (best thing since I wet my pants as a kid), um there are Naval Elements in the game now. One thing that always confused me, is after a Point is unlocked, how does one build the Public Facilities in the new conquered area. I spend the majority in Logi driving resources from Stockpile to front lines, or a quick frontline combat game where I harass the enemy by throwing hammers, or what ever I can at them....

I frequently have the issue where I can hear other players in the voice chat, but no matter if my voice is enabled with the "U" key and using T or G or whatever I set it to for local, I can't be heard by others. I have checked my input and output, and those work just fine in other games, but won't work here. I once upon a time got the voice chat to work, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

First thing in the video is ad for Surfshark... which promptly follows what I assume is the script they mandate "Military Grade Encryption" which is a click-bait nonsense statement. Came here looking for a good video on Foxhole to see if I wanted to jump into the game and was instantly turned off by throwing an ad at me first thing AND a misleading one at that.

I chose Wardens solely because I like late war WW1 French uniforms lol, and as you say, you can see the inspiration

Thank you very much for this, even though it is 1 year old guide, I hope it is still relevant, as I am about to get myself a copy of Foxhole, but I was stuttered by all of the negative steam reviews saying the game is either unplayable, because of clans mass-banning people or because of alternative account griefers, ... etc. etc. Hopefully this won't be the case for me and I will enjoy it, as it looks really great. Guess I will head into logi first though, to help out fighters and then join them on a push :D

maybe I didnt understood it clearly,but to be sure I will say that: You dont need to press "b" button to repair structures. you only need bmats in your inventory and hammer and you can start hammering the structure. the game will show you the health of the structure as % as you hammer it(repair it).

Good clarification. I think it may have seemed you need to press B due to the way I said it, but you're completely correct. B to build and then hammer, but anything that needs repairing can be hammered right away.

Where is the other tutorial videos man its been 5 months since you posted and I was looking forward to watching some others.

I would agree with that I wouldn't want it to be the same game I would want to have different things that would be beneficial to the 1st person

I have a question... apparently there are different servers? I don't know if this was true when you made the video.. but there is able/baker/charlie (this seems wrong, shouldnt it be alpha/bravo/charlie?) Anyway, can you explain this?

Unfortunately not. The only real change you'd see in the tutorial island would be a few different rifles.

Pretty much every weapon on each side has a very similar equivalent on the other side, even new weapons get an equivalent the next big patch. The weapon and vehicle difference shouldn't be enough to sway you from one side to the other. The main difference is player culture on each side and ascetic. The wardens are more organized and generally serious (so they tend to win more but are also sweats) the colonials are generally more casual and more geared towards a bunch of individuals helping each other instead of massive clans in discord like the Wardens. The only consistent difference in equipment is that the wardens generally have more fancy vehicles that are more expensive than their collie counterparts while the collies generally have better ground troop equipment and all of their stuff is cheaper. If you want to sweat your nuts off in a clan then play Warden, of you want to lose with a bunch of numbskulls who are probably screaming Chinese and playing the Soviet Anthem, play Collonial.

Well as TF2 soldier once's said "Off to the front!"

Now if only I had the time to commit to this game ahahaha

fox hole or steel division?

I searched "fox hole new players" because i havent played in a while. play first a years ago but quickly quit because my friend group died out. tried again a year ago and was spawn camped by an ally who was convinced I was a alt account from the other side. I asked him what I could do to participate without being suspect of being a alt and he refused to respond and killed me. after that he told everyone on the server that I was an alt and I couldnt play. fox hole is a great game, with a worse community than league of legends, I'd like to hear that its changed, but I doubt that. also, I was told multiple times I was reported, dunno if I was banned because I quit 0/10
