We just had to do another Foxes and Fossils reaction after we were blown away with their talent, and especially after getting tons of viewer requests for more from them! In this video, we react to Helplessly Hoping, one of our all-time favorite CSN songs.

I have known Tim Purcell for 30 years I use to be the F.O.H. Engineer at Country Music Venue in Atlanta and Tim was the Lead Singer for the House Band that played when there was not a National Act playing and they were a really good Band but Foxes & Fossils is a Great Band and His Daughter Sammie has the Voice of an Angel. I am glad that Foxes & Fossils is back together after a hiatus and I look forward to hearing more of their Awesome Vocal Harmonies ! Thanks Tim and All of the Members of Foxes & Fossils.

I was blown away the first time I watched their performance: Outdoors, at a Taco Joint, with a parking lot and traffic streaming by in the background. Tim Purcell, Maggie Adams, and Sammi Purcell, aided by the rest of the band, made vocal magic. Both girls were teenagers, but sang like polished professionals. I hope Steve Stills has had the privilege of viewing this masterful gem. If not, he should.

As a musician who (for a time) earned a living playing music, and even experienced being part of writing and recording an actual vinyl album, the fun for me watching and listening to this band is paying attention to just how good they ALL are. As someone on YT once said about them, "There are no passengers in this band." No one is being carried or pulled along by the rest. Think about that!

From a singer’s perspective, it doesn’t matter what age you are, when you’re a singer and you get to sing this beautiful song (written with superb harmonies), and sing it with pitch perfect singers (even better pitch perfect family members), it’s the best feeling in the world!!!! Trust me, I sing a Capella with my three daughters, we’ve done Helplessly Hoping and my husband cries every time we sing. My 14 year old is drawn to a lot of music from the 60’s and 70’s because they were great songs back then. That’s why I think the Foxes love this song.

F&F are amazing! Such clean vocals, such precise instrumentation, and all with a mini-mall parking lot and highway in the background, while they take up 4 tables' worth of the patio dining area! I mean, they don't _look_ like someone from whom you'd expect that professional-level, rich, faithful-to-the-original cover. Tim (in the middle) looks like your primary care physician, breezing into the exam room in lab coat, scrubs and sneakers telling you with a brisk tone and smile, "OK, Mr Parrish, we got your results back, everything's looking good!" Some of the other Fossils look like somebody's Uncle Earl, lately retired from the railroad. The Foxes, at least in the years shown in this video and the previous one, just look like typical high school girls dressed up for a school dance, and you'd expect no sounds to be emerging from them other than pointless giggling to each other about some inside joke, usually involving a boy. No way they'd be up there flawlessly belting out harmonies of songs decades older than they are! And with the light bobbing and serious, cooly-pleased glances at each other, like professional singers keeping the rhythm, casually leaning into the mic at just the precise second to deliver the well-rehearsed handful of notes called for at that point. Then they lean back, expressions of seasoned pros resting on their young faces, still bobbing, waiting for their next turn. Just another night on stage, like generations of vocalists before them, paying their dues out on the road. Amazing!

I think the first KZread video of theirs I saw was Amie - Pure Prarie League, and after that, I was totally hooked. They choose songs you can tell they love, and the love for those songs shows in the professionalism of their performances. How many hours must they practice to get these songs down so perfectly in live performances? That is what gets me. Yes, they're just a cover band, but their song choices and talent make them so much more. If you're looking for another one of theirs to review, I think you'll like their Amie performance as much as I did. P.S. And they're like Lays potato chips. You can't just listen to one!

You will not find a better band then Foxes and Fossils! I found them little over 2 years ago when I was going through a cancer operation and fell in love with these fine folks! Their music helped me in so many ways during my recovery. I started playing their CD's while out tending to my garden and I could swear I seen my mater and pepper plants swaying to the beat. Just does not get any better then this!

As good as this harmony is, it was only the best until yesterday. Then F & F dropped 7 Bridges Road. The angels stopped to listen.

I too found F&F a few weeks ago and their CSNY songs are spot on. I am also from the hippie era and have always loved all kinds of different music genres except maybe rap. I always say if you can’t hum it then it’s not music. Lol Still I’ve been buzzing thru all F&F songs the last few weeks. Sorta a trip down memory lane.

I love this band so much. I just found them about 2 months ago. I must have listened to Judy Blue Eyes about 250-300 times (sometimes, 10 or more times in a row). They give me chills. What also tugs at the strings is watching someone else discover them and get joy from them. I loves seeing your reactions, and I really like that the songs you reviewed meant something great to you. That added to my enjoyment.

They do a cover of The Eagles; "7 Bridges Road". Again, the vocals are pitch perfect! They are amazing! There is one part where father and daughter sing the same part together and it sounds like one voice! Makes the hair stand up on my arms!

They are a fantastic band! We've been watching them for a few years now on KZread and their standard is so high! It kills me to watch them doing these outdoor performances in front of audiences who have no idea how much work goes into such perfection! They deserve a captive audience - always!

F&F are amazing talent! Tim, lead singer and his daughter, Sammie is the blonde to his left. Maggie is the other young singer, also great talent. There's another girl singer, Chase. Their guitarists and drummer are great! Please do another review of one of their songs.

Coherent review, fantastic group, one of the best songs. After a bit of contemplating, I have deduced CSN had five voices. Three human, two Martin guitars. By that standard, Foxes and Fossils had only four voices. Three human, shy 1 guitar. That being said, the harmony of F&F has to be the most note perfect, insofar as paying homage to a song, I've ever heard. Absolutely outstanding. I've followed the group since I ran across Suite Judy Blue Eyes and lifted my jaw from the top of my computer desk. I've yet to hear a badly performed song from Tim, clan and friends. They are much appreciated in today's world. RIP Scott.

I'm sure, by now, you guys have been through many of their tunes... can't beat this bunch. What's interesting is the girls certainly didn't live during CSN times, but boy can they carry it. Then the fossils (either instrument OR voice) can adapt as easily to the the newer music.
