You're totally right :) That's what I think: Scully was the one who fell in love first, but she didn't wonna admits it with herself. Mulder, fell in love a bit later, but he admits it with himself earlier than Scully. Look at the episode "Rain King", Scully admits that she has feelings for Mulder... But she was in love with him from a long time ago.

Scully he thinks your hot. 😄 it's weird but there's something so unique about mulder. Like looking back at this show with the 'me too' era. If anyone other than mulder was on screen it would be a red flag. But it just isn't. He has no sense of personal space, flirts, makes sexual innuendo, looks at porn frequently but it's just not a feeling of this is innapropriate mulder HR is going to hear of this. It's how DD plays it i think. He's so soft, tender with how he looks at and touches her. It's very old school chivarly. The hand on the small of the back, the holding the door open, the eye contact and gentle touches showing his awareness of her and need to check in with her. The way he would touch her to announce himself or leave. It's just instinctive mulder ya know. It's a response of how he loves and cares for her. His need to protect her. It just works. I can't explain why it does but it does. You never feel threatened or harassed by him. He doesn't come across as lecherous or a perv, And like for example 'beyond the sea' season freakin 1 and she's grieving and her FBI colleague Fox mulder freakin caresses her face in the office and says "how are you feeling Dana?" but it's not inappropriate at all. DD plays such a gentle respect and concern for her that it's freakin sweet. He always touched and looked at her in the most tender way. Of course it helps that he's gorgeous, and she feels the same way for him and that their chemistry is insane. But i dunno. I'm rambling. It's just it always stood out to me as the era changed that mulder's behaviour might be seen in a different light. But in the year 2021 it just doesn't.

In the 2021 era they would have already smashed in the first episode and all the chemistry would have been lost. The reason these two had insane chemistry is that the writers made them wait so long until they became a couple. That's why I consider them as the ones who invented shipping

That's why we loved him. He did all of those things but with respect. He treated her like a woman but he never underestimated her strength and fortitude. He saw her as his equal and that is why she made him a whole person.

When I first saw this episode in 1993, I was only ten and I thought this was an insult! lol

Scully is saying that she can't believe whatever they say(lone gunmen) is convincing (and she is thinking about the job), and Mulder says to Scully "i think that is convincing(remotely plausible) that someone think youre hot.Beacuse his friend (Melvin Frohike-lone gunmen) told here that she is hot in scene before

Scully thinks the Lone gunmen are to paranoid and that whatever they've said is no plausible (their conspiracy theories) but Mulder counters her with him believing what Frohike said of Scully being hot. Meaning not all of what the lone gunmen said is untrue.
