there's a wonderful novel by Melania Mazzucco about Tintoretto and his daughter Marietta "la lunga attesa dell'angelo", which made me discover her. I unfortunately don't know if it's been translated in English. I have seen her self portrait during an exhibition in MIlan and look forward to see it again next time in the Uffizi. Mantegna didn't work just in Padua, he spent at least 30 years of his life working for the lords of my hometown Mantua, the Gonzagas. We proudly have one of his masterpieces, the frescoed camera picta or "camera degli sposi", as well as the house where he lived. Thanks so much for the video, yours is one of my favorite channels!

Hi Joan Holland, In answer to your question, these curators are at the National Gallery in London on Trafalgar Square. They've got some particularly great Renaissance art there, but have representative art from many other eras too. Best wishes. ☺️

Really great video but would be great if the curators faced the camera to engage their audience better. You feel like an outsider listening in on a conversation.

Thank you ever so much for bringing these women to light and their backgrounds. For one I never really thought about these artists as being married. That has opened a whole new venue for me.

In the future, please, show a tighter view of the paintings. Why show so much dead space when many watch on a small screen? It seems many programs are about the verbal presentation and much less about the visual work. Backwards! Supports the approach making criticism more important than actual work.

This video would have benefited from lingering over the amazing artwork, which got minimal exposure, rather than dwelling on the the two talking heads in profile.

Pre enlightenment artwork only bespeaks the preferred esthetics of the church and aristocracy. Not much of any kind of gauge of the zeitgeist of the time.
