Four 'Wants' from the Seahawks Before the Start of the 2024 Season

Спорт

The Seattle Seahawks have a new coach, they've picked up new additions through free agency and added young talent through the draft. So what is left for them to do? For our inaugural show on the Bleav network, we have four things we'd like to see from Mike Macdonald and the Seahawks before the 2024 season kicks off. One area of the team may have too much depth, while another falls short. Is there a former coach other than Pete Carroll who could be called upon for some coaching guidance? Lastly, stay tuned to the end to hear about the one player we believe the Seahawks should bring back to help bolster the defense.

Why do we keep thinking Grubb is going to be pass happy? He's said multiple times he wants to run the ball

I hear ya. For me is all the “tape” we can find on Grubb, short of a year in Souix Falls a long time ago, shows a pass happy spread offense. I know what he’s saying in a press conference but his past actions scream otherwise. I’ll be stoked if he really comes through on his words and I’m wrong though! Adam

I feel like Adam’s a little too down on the Grubb offense. We literally have not seen them play a single game. if it gets to week one and we see him start running a spread offense I’m gonna be a little worried, but until such a time I’m gonna go ahead and assume that Grubb actually did some research ahead of time and will not be completely clueless.

I’m sure Grubb is a really bright guy. Seems like a good dude too. For me it’s that the guys who’ve made the jump from college direct to the league have been smart guys too but abject disasters. There’s been some big names too… Kingsburry, Meyer, Canada, Chow, Kelly, Saban, Petrino, Sark, Spurrier and on and on. History strongly suggests it’s gonna be a struggle. Grubbs history shows a spread type offense, his words at the podium say otherwise. We shall see I guess! Adam

@@SeaHawkersPodcast yeah I will definitely concede that. History is not on our side here. But I will say his offense at Fresno State was definitely tailored to the quarterback he had over there as opposed to University of Washington, where he had Michael Penix. He has shown an ability to adapt in college. I know they are different animals, but I feel like if he has the ability to deviate from what he knows he will set himself up to succeed. I don’t think he would try to directly import his college offense without making plenty of NFL adjustments to it. I am just going to be optimistic is what I am trying to get at.

We shall see! I am rooting for him to succeed. It’s why I was thinking having an experienced offensive NFL mind to help him would be beneficial. Especially because coach MacDonald has a lot of other stuff on his plate as a first time HC.

The characterization of Grubb’s offense was pretty unimpressive. Holmgren hasn’t been in the league for 20 years. That’s about as intelligent as asking Jimmy Johnson himself to advise. The notion is ridiculous.

You’re right. What would a rookie OC without a minute of NFL experience hope to glean from the second greatest coach in franchise history who’s been to 3 Super Bowls? I’m sure all those bubbles and hole shots will work exactly as they did in college. Silly me. Adam
