Four-Minute Warning Mock

Ойын-сауық

A short video showing what it might've looked like on BBC One if a nuclear attack occurred against the UK during the early 1970s. This is a fake video that is NOT genuine at all and I am not affiliated with the British Broadcasting Corporation in any way.

How is this my most viewed video? For reference, this is hilariously inaccurate and I put this together in one night. Back then, in the event of a real nuclear emergency, it is most likely that apart from a (very) brief message, television would either play Protect and Survive films or go off the air immediately. This is because according to an article by Subterranea Britannica, "television would not be used as it was thought that it would divert people away from the vital national message to be carried by radio and would not be available after the attack." Hope you all enjoyed watching anyway!

The fallout would smother life on the earth like it was rapped in a death blanket. Would not matter much were in the northern hemisphere you are, death will come. So long as many of the H bombs detonate, the fallout will block out the sun and poison almost everywhere. I highly recommend pissing yourself followed by a course of praying to your impotent god. Here in the USA, it would be eerie to hear The Star Spangled Banner being played over the sounds of air raid sirens going off in the distance. The Emergency Broadcast System would interrupt programming with an Emergency Action Notification of a national emergency along with the attack warning, then if the station is a non-participating national EBS station then the station would sign off.

That's usually what was planned on. However, if there had a blitz across East Germany without warning, and it was strong enough to initially overwhelm NATO forces, a tactical nuclear strike would have been initiated, and would likely lead to a strategic escalation within days, if not hours. Though it may have been enough time for the BBC to swap over to emergency broadcasting before the four minutes.

Relax and be happy. Keep calm and carry on. As well as our program, your life and the lives of your loved ones have been suspended forever. But don't worry God is in control. Now please stand up for the national anthem - cheerio! Now remember don't panic!!
