    As an ex-valeter, and hobby detailer, I have used many waxes. The things I look for, are value for money, and longevity. My previous favourite was Meguiars ultimate paste wax (100% synthetic), it was very easy to apply, reasonable to remove, and gave a pretty good shine, while being good value for money but not brilliant. Longevity was about a month before I noticed a drop off in beading (and I wash my car a LOT). My current favourite is the Bilt Hamber double speed wax. It is fantastic value for money, quite easy to apply, but is one of the hardest to remove out of many I have tried. If you put too much on, and leave it to cure for too long, it is a real struggle to remove. Fortunately the shine is very good, but the best thing is the longevity, it lasts for several months.

    The two waxes on the sides of the panel had gravity on their side they didn’t just drop towards the camera but also dropped off to the sides so less chance of water sticking. You should do another test with the outer waxes being applied to the center of the bonnet and I would expect they wouldn’t disperse water as well.

    I’ve just bought BH double speed wax, I really love the hydrophobics of it. I plan on washing claying and then polishing the car with autoglym SRP before applying it. Does this sound reasonable? Also would it be a good idea to layer the meguiars gold class paste wax on top of it for more gloss and slickness?

  • @SpeckyMcSporran

    @SpeckyMcSporran

    3 жыл бұрын

    There's nothing wrong with that at all. BH cleanser polish is pretty similar to SRP so you shouldn't have any issues. I don't see any issue with topping DSW with Megs wax, it'll be a sacrificial layer that might give you a gloss boost.

  • @SpeckyMcSporran

    @SpeckyMcSporran

    Good question, there's a reason that companies make panel wipe products. If tar remover was the same then we would use it. Stick with a dedicated panel wipe or mix up some isopropyl alcohol and water at 1:4 instead.
