No they dont. In a few thousand years back it was a common tactic by the women to have sex with as many strong males as possible in a short time so when a new born baby comes everyone will aid him/her.

zotyo86 There also an instant when a leopard mated with the two male leopard surrounding her territory so they wouldn't kill her litter or cub. If s male see a cub and is like I haven't mated with a female to produce this therefore there's another male and he would want his own cubs to live killing that one cub. However if a female leopard mated with both, then both would think the cub is theirs and leave it alone to live

X. Numbers That's a lot of 🦁 King Lion power and toss in the lionesses of the pride and there ain't much they can't bring down. Elephant and Rhino probably the only two creatures safe from them.

Five males. I'd say they can take on a elephant if they have a 6-7 lionesses. If they have five males they probably have more than 6-7 females, but get the gist. I'd say they can take down an elephant. And since they probably hunt bigger animals as well. Too many mouths to feed. Small kills won't be enough.

Technically each one of those cubs could have a different dad, it’s possible in cat species, both big cats and domestic cats. It can happen with humans too, but it’s much rarer

those cubs are lucky. lots of cubs are killed off by intruding male lions that want to take over the pride, but that wouldn't happen here!

Not that lucky...if the males are too powerful, they wont be outsted from the pride by younger males, that means that when the females are older, the males(their father or uncles) would mate with them. This is the reason male cubs are kicked out during adolecense..normally it balances itself out because males only reighn for 2-3 years which is the same time it takea for cubs to fully mature and by the time their offspring go into heat a new unrelated male is in charge..so basically incest is in this prides future if the males dont get over thrown.

Yes, its very unlikely another collation would take over. Normally in the wild at maximum there's a colation of about 3 lions, so seeing 5 is a very good and strange occurance.

Ha that is the stratagy used by the lioness as far as when a coalition of 5 males run a pride.The lionesses will mate with them all so they tend to assume it is their genes that are getting passed and most cases it generally is as the coalition are usually realated in some way but of course not always. Those cubs have a far better chance of success with that many protectors than they would with just 1 or 2 males.

Nah, lions would never tolerate a male cub that isn't his. Either all the cubs are females or lioness actually mated with only 1 of the lion and all the cubs are his. Meanwhile the other lions behind are just the King's subordinates instructed to coach his children. But if it's true those males mated with the lioness and any of the cubs are actually male, means the lioness was just gifted on a whole new level and knows how to take down the male.

@@sallylemon5835 Male lions will only kill cubs when meeting strange females and taking over a pride. They'll kill all cubs regardless of gender, in order to bring their mothers back into season sooner, so they can sire their own cubs. There is no way for male lions to tell which cubs they've sired once they're born and introduced in an established pride, and in all likely hood, the same lioness could have cubs with different fathers if they've mated soon enough. So all of the cubs are perfectly safe with their five dads.

Or with the lionesses; if the females really like the male(s) they have, they'll back their kings up against a challenger or threat to the pride. And it's for sure those females feel extra secure having a whole litter's worth of brothers looking out for them

Sure, but only until they grow up as young adults and become competition. Then older strong experienced lions and leader chase them away from pride and they have to survive on their own.

Those are the most well-protected cubs in the world haha! I guess the only downside would be the amount of food required to sustain a pride of that size. Within 2 years those cubs approach maturity and help with the hunting as well. Then it's truly a pride to be reckoned with.
