Four Different Light Modifiers
There are a lot of modifiers on the market today. In this video I talk about four different lighting modifiers that don't get enough press. Those modifiers are the MagMod grid and gel holder system, the Orbis ring flash, the Lastolite Strobo Gobo, and the Saberstrip.
As always, there's more information, links, and discussion on this over at the DEDPXL blog. Here's the post...

The most revolutionary idea in this video is using an umbrella as a comedy modifier.
It's like a super long commercial that I don't want to skip :D
The repeated umbrella falls to drill in a point & the sudden car ramming into the speedlight stand had me reaching for the subscribe button.. then I realized I was already subscribed since God knows when.. you should put out more videos 👍👍👍
Zack you need to make videos like this again. This stuff was incredible.
What a video. Great way to start the day!
Thanks Zack, I'd never heard of the saberstrip but it looks like a practical way of getting soft looking light outdoors. Great video !!

Zack Arias Hey Zack, how many MagGrids did you use to create so narrow shadows?
You are a great teacher Zack. I enjoy your videos.
Very informative episode, Zack. Thank you ***Use a dremel and cut a hole in the Saberstrip for access to your flash.
I see these videos, and it reminds me why I suggest Zack's stuff to all photogs starting out on flash.

Brilliant, I may have to look for the Sabrestrip, I've killed two speedlights using them with umbrellas outside. And once when some kids at a wedding thought it was funny to push it over!
Amazing video! So informative! Thank you!

That was sooo cool and that car is so you. Great video
I wonder if you were the inspiration for the new Magmod equipment. I watched your video awhile back just after I got my MagMod stuff, and thought your gobos were cool. The next thing I knew, Magmod came out with their Magbeam with gobos. I look forward to trying them out. Thanks for your tutorial.
zack you are crazy! and great production!

Very cool video. Thanks!
Miss ya Zack
That music is provocative.
Useful and entertaining video :-)
Zach Arias is a national treasure.
thank you for your review. very informative :)
Brilliant video, I do thing there are other, cheaper options to the MagMod. The Lastolite snoot with grids is an amazing modifier for lighting very small areas like bottle labels. Then with some very cheap modifying with tracing paper, gels and homemade cardboard gobos and a bit of imagination the cheap kits of 6 (I think) modifiers are great value, especially if you buy a couple more holders for £7 the pair. Then you just need the Godox Bowen S mount for speedlights and the job's a good 'un your only constraint is your imagination. The strip light look amazing and I’m seriously considering investing in one. Although the image you got with the Orbis was amazing, simply faultless, I can’t see a ring flash being any use to me for still life photography more than the macro ring flash I already have. Great ending, it’s brilliantly see a pro tog who actually looks like he’s enjoying what he does. Just seen the price and the price of shipping! Why, oh why didn’t I order this prior to Brexit? I only have one strobe they fit.
Gotta say. Really like the MagMod and Saberstrip. Less to carry and looks great. However looking at the sabrestrip I would also have to get different flash triggers because my current ones would not fit in that thing. Bummer.
you rock, boss ................ thanks again
Great.Thank you
Great video. Thnks
You are a great entertainer.
love my saberstrip - ps Nice camera bud !
Oh my God I'm almost died laughing!!!! Tha Saberstrip final part is awesomee :D Zack you're the best.
Awesome video zach and funny :)
awesome!
amazingggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!! thanks frm my heart big bro..........thanks
Amazing Zack, I never use flashes before, I like natural light, but that as well because of the tipe of shooting, but since I want to start doing some portrait, etc.. I'm looking to learn about flash/strobes (artificial light) and your videos are awesome. That being said, in 2018, you still have the same suggestions for light, modifiers, etc.. or it changed, since there's kind a lot new stuff? Thanks a lot for all the great videos, they are great and it's helping me a lot.
What I learned here: you have to have a cooperative and beautiful model, with a reasonable sense of humor, if you want some nice results. Oh, and lights are also nice
Holly shit. That tube is creating amazing light. I got to make one ot these.
LOVE this vid! What's the name of the end credit track that can be found on AudioBlock?
