The more I see of the sheer power delivered at the tracks, plus the weight giving the traction needed the more I'm awed. Pushing this amount of weight is a feat of its own, then seeing them able to do it so effortlessly at such degrees of incline is unreal. It's amazing how far they've brought the engineering and technology this far ... Thank you again MMC.

The new komatsu 375 a-8 is the same as a cat d10 -2t as far as hp so I would say that komatsu d275 is closely compared to the d9

That’s right and the 475 is compared to a D 11 cat.

well this is great but whoever is running this operation need to get a couple of 994 push wheel dozers on this so the tracks can move on ahead with the rough pushover , would save a lot of track wear

Can somebody explain why caterpillar has their tracks looking like a triangle and the komatsu is flat track what's the difference I always wondered that can somebody explain does it give more power or what

Hi Beavis 81, they,ve done it so they can raise the track drive shaft much higher up which also means it's less prone to water ingress when working on beaches and in flooded ground.

One of the reasons they went with the high drive was to lessen the shock load on the final drives. Also allows them to remove the transmission out the back in literally hours.

It's called a elevated sprocker design to avoid ground shocks to transmission and reduce wear rate

Caterpillar hands down

In 1979 at Kenecott copper mine Ray AZ . 6 new kamatsu dozers to replace worn out D8 cats . I said if they’re gonna replace the D8 then work the same as the cats . 3 foot ripper bars were changed to 6 foot just to be equal .all 6 new Kamatsu dozers were broke some in 2 . We’re hauled off we rebuilt the old D8s enough for equal .

Komatsu makes great dozers.But run a Komatsu and then a Cat for 12 hrs and then you tell me what you would rather run the next day.Cat is much more operator friendly.
