Fountain Valley rink is a hotbed for hip hop culture
Ойын-сауық
By providing a home for this niche community to grow, Fountain Valley Skating Center is filling a gap that many people might not even know exists. People in their 20s are attracted to the scene by the current music, but say they stay for the culture that is brought to life through rhythmic footwork and artistic flexibility.

Skating has sure changed through the years. I'm so glad to see another generation skating and doing something positive.

Which is why I currently have 5 pairs of skates...and already know the next 3 I'm getting! LOL Each set-up is (and will be) slightly different for the various forms of skating. Don't know if I could ever go with the fiberglass wheels, but I'm at least going to try some 101 or 103A's at some point.

Good to see the community come together through Hip Hop...
It makes me sooo happy to see the young generation still skating there, and have the pride they do for skating. I grew up in the 80's at that rink. I went every weekend, and even won 2 speed skate contests as a kid. I remember saving my money for a cool pair of speed skates they had in the case back in the day. This video brings back so many good memories. So glad the place is still around. Warms my heart.
YAY ! Good for y'all for recognizing that this is TALENT, and that these young folks are doing a GOOD THING by coming there to skate !! I get so mad when people judge something like this as "kids wasting their time" ! Now hangin' and bangin' and getting' into trouble..THAT is wasting time. This is developing a talent. Never under-estimate the value of developing a TALENT !
That was me as a teenager with my friends. It was our clubbing for teens. We even used to do windmills and people tried to battle us, but we'd skate away.
So beautiful to watch this comradery. I love skating though my knees don't enjoy it as much anymore. Lol Seeing how great this young generation skates and embraces the art is just awesome.
Skating is my savior and the saver of other people's lives I am 💯% at peace with the world when I have my skates on it does not matter what skates or what style of skating I am doing at that time I am completely at peace with the world and everyone in it. Skating is my hobby my passion my love and it means the world to me to the point I travel all over the California coast and hit a rink every day of the week
