It looks like she got one of the problem batches (going by the ‘freckling’ happening). The Wet Pen did a video about the issue and he reached out to Regalia about it. They replaced the paper; their response was that it was down to an issue with coating & temperature problems on a single machine which has since been fixed. IIRC they did replace it, so I think it’s more of an issue with a faulty batch rather than the paper itself (which is generally known for being really FP-friendly)

That is so interesting. I was gifted this pad by a pen shop so I don’t think I would qualify for a replacement but good to know!

As green & purple are my favourite colours, I thoroughly enjoyed this one 💚💜

A very interesting video Karyna. What was interesting was that half the inks swatched were a green shade! The only ink swatched that I actually have a bottle of is the Robert Oster Fire & Ice. That shade of blue has helped me regain my enthusiasm for using blue inks. I have a couple of the Sailor 50 States inks - Ohio a shade of brown, and West Virginia a black ink. I got those since they have a certain significance to me. I think I know a couple other shades of teal you could look at if you get a chance. They are the Graf von Faber-Castell Deep Sea Green. The other, if you have an interest in some Chinese inks, is Hongdian Teal. I think the Deep Sea Green is a bit darker than the Noodler's Gruene Cactus Eel. I have both the stainless steel and brass Kakimori nibs and I find them to be a bit tricky to use especially after I first dip them. I need a lot more practice with them.

I use Diamine Imperial purple in my Montblancs alot. Its delicious. I don't get any gold sheening when I use it though. I prefer Blue Water Ice ove Fire and Ice. I wanted to like Regalia but its far to inconsistent and feathery. Enjoy them!

Thanks for sharing! I have heard mixers reviews on Regalia. When I write on it, it can shadow and bleed through. Some have said I may have an off batch 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hey Karyna. Another great video. It seems like the Regalia paper isn’t very fountain pen friendly. In many of your ink swatching videos it seems to just about fall apart. Is that something you have noticed as well? Despite that there are times when some inks do behave in interesting ways on it. This video is an example of that. Have a wonderful day!

It looks like you may have one of the Regalia paper batches that has a defect. It was covered in a video by …someone (I’ll try and find it). It doesn’t always behave like that, but there were some batches that had horrific issues, but the ones unaffected seem to outperform other papers. It’s a shame they’ve had consistency issues (although so have Rhodia and other brands, so it’s not necessarily a death knell for the brand). You may be able to reach out to them to get a replacement (IIRC that’s what someone else did, and they replaced it)

Found it; The Wet Pen did a video on it (called ‘Serious problems with regalia paper’). Might be worth reaching out to them with the unique ID that comes with their notebooks to get a replacement, because it should definitely be performing better than that, and in this video you can see the same ‘freckling’ etc. that was in that video

@@AmusedMistress I use the speedball B nib or my Kakimori nib but a paint brush or even a q tip would work well!

What is the holder for your speedball nib? Looks blue and sparkly?
