Yeah it was matching her skin tone, not her undertone. Don't you understand how this all works lol our skin tones (surface tones) can change but our undertones don't so neutral is the best match because it matches her undertone perfectly.

I thought it was the pink tone as well cause the foundation disappeared!!! The lighting they have also agreed and to think they use bright lights. I'm firm believer that pictures will be the best determinant

Dang it, I really thought the cool one just melts into the skin, but when David started blending the neutral one, that’s when I saw the cool was ashy. Ughh so hard

What about warm olive undertone? Neutrals look ashy and warms look orangish on us. We need more brands to incorporate Olive undertone foundations independently

I have the worse time finding a foundation for oily skin with tan skin olive undertone. I decided to buy color mixers in blue and yellow, a green color corrector and a light yellow corrector plus a white one. These I got from la girl for $4 to $12 la girl foundation color mixers they have 4. I'm still waiting to test out.

I thought I was going crazy. I got match at Sephora and got 24n and once I brought it home it looks like I have a blob of gray foundation all over my face 😢

I'm light neutral but I see slight greenish tinge on my neck which points to light olive. I've been looking for a correct foundation match for years, done all those tests. I've even gotten color matched at Sephora and when I got outside it was totally off. I'd still like to find the right shade but have pretty much given up.. lol

What's the best way to deal with foundations that tend to oxidize?

i can't decide which video is more life changing, how to apply concealer/corrector/brightener or this one! since watching your video on how to apply corrector, concealer and brightener my eyes look perfect! i have even received compliments not on how good my make-up looks (because i am a minimalist) but how "refreshed" i look, as if i have been on vacation !! for years people have said "look at your veins to see your undertone" and that did nothing for me. why? because i am a neutral! now i know!!! thank you so much for your incredibly entertaining and informative videos!

(I guess it is somewhat warm, but slightly cool....🧐🙄) I look ok with gold, but prefer white gold or silver jewelry, too. 😁😁 BTW, this model has such beautiful skin and a lovely face!!!😍

So you basically go with what matches the neck and chest because for my I wear a lot of t-shirts and pants so my arms are dark and my legs are not so I'm just making sure because I really have a hard time

I still can't figure out my undertone 30 years later, and I'm always buying shades that are either too dark or too light. It's so frustrating. Back in the day I used to wear extremely warm foundations, but nowadays they make my skin look too yellow. Then for a while I thought I was olive, but now olive foundations are way too gold/green on me. When I decided to give neutral tones a try, my skin would always look grey and dull. Nowadays I have to apply a shade adjuster (blue, yellow, red, white and black) to every foundation I buy to get the shade just right.

Love the video.. I personally have such a hard time with foundation. I have mutchure skin and as I get older it seem to change. I'm I crazy to think this? The summer I get super tanned so I feel like I need different foundation for different seasons. Is this possible?

I only figured out recently that I’m a pink cool undertone. Now that I know, it makes finding the right foundation shade somewhat easier. Especially when the brand has info about their foundations undertones… in particular Estée Lauder. For years I wondered what the numbers and letter meant next to their shade names lol.

In Estée Lauder, the first number is the shade intensity, light med dark… the letter is undertone. The next number is like a volum switch turning up and down the undertone. So you are warm, but are you slightly, like a 1, or very warm like a 5.

Pink undertones usually get categorized also as "cool" for a lot of foundation shades, so some brands will have W, N, or C next to a shade number to denote undertone.

Lol, Im searching for the latest methods for identifying your undertone and I stumbled here, I realized that undertone's essence is very varying, from clothing to makeup etc. I was just trying to find the right colors for me but this kept my attention span, quick question what if I see blue-green almost turquoise, blue and purple veins what does that mean, I definitely can't wear some colors.

But what online how many times I bought and the product was dark for my skin or light

I have a high pink OVERTONE to my skin ( my capillaries are very close to the surface if my skin all over my body) but pink foundation looks off as well as warm looking too orange. Neutral is ashy. 😢

I WISH YOU WERE AT EVERY SEPHORA! Or at least you were the one to train ALL Sephora employees in regards to color matching. I’m 32 years old, have been “color matched” numerous times at Sephora, handful of times at Ulta, and a few times inside of Nordstrom. Every single time I am told something different. I spend THOUSANDS every year at Sephora, Ulta and Nordstrom beauty counters and I STILL HAVE NEVER FOUND ANYTHING TO MATCH ME! Sooooooo much money down the drain😫😫😩 To anyone reading this- Please comment if you have any suggestions on what to do about this! Should I possibly go to a derm and get a skin analysis that way? ❤

I feel you! I have been to Sephora, and color matched thousands of times, and still have the wrong foundation shade. I need help as well

I make my own (or have been trying to for YEARS) foundation and I will tell you, as a home formulator, this is the hardest thing I have ever attempted to do. Too red, too yellow, too brown, too dark, too light, too cakey, too translucent. I just cannot get it right!

Why don't companies have samples of makeup, from foundation to lipstick. At least then you can try different colours until you find the right one and not waste money paying for full sizes.

Well I prefer going 1 shade lighter coz if you take your undertone matched you'll end up looking darker than your actual color
