Even funnier to me: In poison’s most recent upload, they got off the passenger train they were on because Shiey got caught by the conductor because he climbed off and was surfing the passenger they were riding. And he’s the reason they got caught at the border in journey across Europe. He needed a dad figure for himself for those! 🤣

I was gonna say he's more like the little brother but I guess that works too (I have no clue who's older LOL), when me and my older brother played Coop Horror games I always had a bad habit (Or luck) of opening something in game that would either get us killed, swarmed or both LOL All you need to know is if this was a movie like The Thing, Day Of The Dead or Alien and just horror scenarios in general I am always the one guy who either: panicked immediately, sprays bullets everywhere, accidently kills his own teammates, is either getting dragged to their doom or getting ripped apart by the monsters while screaming hysterically.
Apparently abandoned German power plants are tidier than active factories elsewhere :)

1:22 Thats a electric filter to extract the dust out of the exhaust gases. 2:07 Those are carbon brushes for the excitation of the rotor. with those you conduct current to the rotor windings. 2:13 this material is mostly to reduce noise. The turbines have extra insulation to absorb heat 8:41 Those are not parts of a turbine but are fans of a big blower which are used to either push fresh air to the burners or suck the exhaust gases out of the boiler

By the way, those units you see around 6:50 are Avocent AMX5121 KVM User Stations. They connect to computers but aren't the actual computers themselves- just a remote display and keyboard for them. It's possible the computers they found would have been the actual computers they were controlling. They also could have been servers that monitored or interfaced with the SCADA control systems you see just before them Either way, a lot of that equipment is fairly new. Was definitely decomm'd recently and not many years ago Edit: I played the video a little bit further and saw the other end of the KVM system in the rack with the Fujitsu systems. Can see it clearly at 7:30. The system however is a matrix system (any computer monitor to any computer tower) so it's possible those weren't the actual user stations. Also interesting you can see 2 different models of AMX KVM systems- they probably have some more modern ones elsewhere in the plant Edit 2: And there's newer KVM user terminals at 10:05

My dad told me stories of server rooms at an air force base from the late 60s and early 70s that were the size of most standard houses today(a few thousand square feet). I bet the cell\smart phone you carry has as much capability as those server rooms did. I’m 55 now and dad is gone; so I can’t talk to him about it anymore. Your parent is listening if you but use a retailed CB. Channeled communication is one way to start but use a Call Sign familiar to y'all and nobody else. I did my talk after Last Call and parked looking out over a dark windy sea,
I'm an apprentice electrician and it's crazy how some stuff like valves, motors, pumps, etc are pretty universal and recognizable but big industrial facilities can become so baffling with just the sheer volume of stuff all connected together. Obviously a lot of different facilities have specific and/or proprietary equipment that you'd really have to look over to figure out, and a lot of basic stuff like phones, alarms, and switches can start to look funky when explosion-proof equipment is used. Everything is so expensive (before you even get into the labor to install and maintenance) it's kind of profound to see it all just sitting around doing nothing.

I think I actually know that power plant; planned to go there once too but never got to do that. If it’s the one I’m assuming, it was built in the early 70s (generator 1 & 2) and early to mid 80s (generator 3 & 4). The four generators had a combined power output of 2,23 GWh and it was one of the largest of its operating company. It was closed in 2017.

I've also used on old LGA 1366 Workstation with Xeon CPUs for a gaming rig back in the day. Old Workstations/Servers are a great base for a gaming rig, because they tend to feature beefy PSUs and high quality casings. Heck, if the ones shown in this video have got multiple processor sockets, they probably could still handle todays games well.
@martinm6368
Жыл бұрын
@@provisionalhypothesis yeah, that'd almost certainly be the bottle-neck for those systems. Odds are you simply install a decent GPU and you're good to go. For the workstations/servers featured there, you'd have to pick one with at least 2 CPU-sockets to enjoy modern games. They're older than a decade after all. A single quadcore at 3.2-3.7 GHz won't make the cut anymore. Two of them may perform on par with a good LGA1151-V2 CPU which is still enough for modern games.
Loved the upload. I like how your like the big brother keeping Matt in place. Just the vibes off watching the content makes me happy. Thanks guys for sharing.
thats pretty funny finding stuff you remember - i had similar experience - went to a museum and found the old Mac Lisa and plus's, i was one of the first people in the UK to use one, and now confined to a museum, does anyone remember disc swapping until your arms dropped off, just to run a program or save a small file, bonkers how tech has changed love your videos Shiey

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU SHIEY. HAPPY HOLIDAYS IF THIS IS IT TILL AFTER XMAS... You really are an unspoken legend. The subscribers appreciate every video. Keep up the great work, we look forward to 2023.
Carefull with those generator rooms(around 1.50 mark). Some use hydrogen for insulation. If the inner door shows explosive danger icons, it may be due to risk of hydrogen buildup
@florian7947
Жыл бұрын
The power plant has been shut down for 6 years. No matter how much hydrogen it once had, it has completely evaporated. Maximum closed pressure vessels could hold it.
I love when Shiey's videos start with him hold his flashlight like a gun like he's playing an horror FPS game like Condemned, Doom 3, dead space or Left 4 dead. Just add a UI with a life bar, an ammo count and item slot LOL
It's hilarious how much like my dad Shiey sounds when talking about those computers x) Love both journeys!
It's fascinsting to watch you two navigate the plant. I work in a power plant as well, not a coal fired one like this is but it's amazing how similar it is to the one I'm employed at. Seems no matter which country you're in there is a pretty standard construction template for these plants.
Oh, this is Schwedt ! I remember this place, my dad worked here in the 90's as a Tech refinery engineer and used to brought me at work sometimes on wednesdays. Computers and generators are linked to a crude oil processing system, they process petroleum in this refinery. Workers here used to separate the crude oil into lighter and heavier fractions such as propane, gasoline, diesel. There are several different units to make these tasks automatic here. To make it short, they are mainly a mixture of propane and butane (C3+C4). These gases separated from the top of Atmospheric Distillation Unit (or Crude Distillation Unit - CDU) are liquefied under pressure and sold as cooking fuel in the end. Also, I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about and thanks for reading my BS until this line and losing five minutes of your time. This is how it works.

My dad works as an IT manager and that pretty much is what an IT room would look like. Tons of pc's stored in case there is a new hire or if one breaks and someone needs a temporary one, they have the extras in storage. As a kid it's insane seeing all that I remember before he had like five monitors in this one small room with tons of pc's. Not sure if it was just to set them up or if he was using them to do stuff but was kind of cool.

Brown, Boveri & Cie. (Brown, Boveri & Company; BBC) was a Swiss group of electrical engineering companies. In 1988 it merged with ASEA to form ABB. These generators predate 1988, how incredible.
