Something tells me the soldier wasn't buried by his comrades since boxes of MG ammunition were buried with him, 5:43 and the soldier's mouth was left open after his death. 9:31 Lookd like a mass grave

In the words of Plato " only the dead have seen the end of war", really nobody wins in a war, its a horrible cancer of man's cruelty to each other. Gen of the Armies Douglas MacArthur said it right, "its up to us not to just monitor war but to end it totally ". Hi, the majority are not in pits, it is trenches or dugouts (firing points) very few would be buried on the battlefield this is just where they sadly died.

This is the true scene of morbid death captured forever. Just to think, this was done by men to other men of whom didn't even know each other. Sad but reality. Had it been any other time, they would have run across each other in a pub and talked about the weather for a bit.

The German soldiers were manning a machine gun dugout position and the Russian soldiers were advancing on it in an infantry attack which appears to have eventually been successful, hence whole dog tags showing these soldiers were listed missing in action, the tags would have had half missing if they had been found and listed killed in action at the time or soon after, probably shell fire buried the dead of both sides after because it appears the Russian troops also were not found either so also listed as missing as opposed to killed in action.

Nice vid. Ofcourse i hope that the families of these soldiers, Russian and German, are (going to be) informed about these soldiers death and that they will have handed over their belongings. The rest you can sell...

The embossing on the ID mark reads: "SS disposal troops"! Тиснение на значке удостоверения личности гласит: «Утилизация войск СС»!

Hopefully we learn from this. War is inhumane and horrific.

Humans have been going to war since they have been on this planet, Neanderthals were killed off by humans in the form of war and other things like mixing blood lines, it goes back 200k+ years into our evolution, like I said it's human nature to wage war and it only gets more dangerous as time goes on and technology continues to advance.

Probably buried by the Soviets after the battle. They dumped their weapons and ammunition in the hole with them. Probably had no need for the German equipment and didn't want another German unit finding it.

Why is there so much unused boxes of machine gun bullets buried ? , surely they must’ve been scarce back then .
