FOUND A SUPER CHEAP SEEDER ON AMAZON. FIRST USE & FEATURES!

Months ago we showed you a seeder we bought off Amazon. Today we try it out. We just disced the places we want for a giant screen (when we say giant we mean it can grow up to 14' tall!) from Northwoods Whitetails. Our last tractor purchase from Amazon was trash, so we're hoping this one is nothing like that!
The Field Tuff 3 Point Seeder is unavailable on Amazon, but I found it in stock on Northern Tool: www.tkqlhce.com/click-9000502...

I broad cast seeded Northwoods Whitetails screening last year in two plots. Grew to about thirteen feet. Best part It stood up all winter. Great seed combo.

I used a screen like this at about 5 feet wide a couple years ago. It was awesome up until late October when the leaves started yellowing. Suddenly you could see through it. After the first heavy snow fall it was mostly matted down. Last year I planted it about 20 feet deep. That fixed it so it worked until we got a lot of snow.

That ledge part is for adding weight. It takes my Saya 505 6 cylinder blocks to get enough bite to no-till.

When we used to prep new ground we would plow, disc while pulling a drag and then my all time favorite thing to do (Not really) pick up rocks and haul them to the edge of the field. Then obviously put seed down.

I was lucky enough to find a Tar River Saya 505. No idea why it was still at the dealer but I got one. It works quite well. I need to wait for a rain before I use it to make sure it can bite enough to do no-till. Had a few issues out of the gate but I got them straightened out. My brother's been using it to plant soy beans and corn with it.

I would’ve hit that with a 3 pt tiller and just skimmed the top to get all those clots down before using that seeder. While a disc is good for preparation it leaves a rough finish that often times seeders don’t like. Also I’ve drug a light gauge chain behind my seeders and seed drills just to make sure everything gets covered. Great video!

Part of the reason you might have exposed seed is because of your seed bed prep. Here in eastern Canada, we use a disc as part of a 3 step process, never to break virgin ground. (Moldboard plow, disc, harrow). This gives you a lot softer seed bed, might be something for you to try in the future

The farmer down the road in central Georgia uses a larger rig, a drill, rather than a seeder. He does not plow or disc his land any more. But then, he uses GMO seed and roundup. It is strange to see corn growing with hardly a weed in sight. The neighbor we have raises bees. He has to drive way out because his hives would die off from the chemicals the local farmers use, from GMO pesticides bred into the corn to spraying the peach orchards. Yup, I am living in chemical land and sooner or later, it will get into our water supply. So far we have trace nitrates in the water well and a pH of 5.0, low soluble ions though. I think most of the things we grow are doing OK with the water but the strawberries hardly put out anything. I suspect the pH has something to do with it. Modern days in farm country, has its good points, and the few bad ones that could be better. Local farmers do not appreciate the eventual water they will be drinking that they contaminate yet, but in time, as in the ag areas of California, this stuff will accumulate, and they will literally drink what they sowed.

Hopefully he will improve notill drill is great. The chemical/gmo big four develop the majority of the world’s gmo seed and pesticide field trials year round in Hawai’i. Maui voted for independent environmental and health studies the companies sued to overturn the vote and other laws and avoid test. Monsanto (now Bayer) Dow-DuPont, Syngenta-ChemChina and BASF seem too big. The fines paid don’t actually pay for the water pollutions true costs. The notill drill and cover crop rotations like many organic farmers are doing would help the land the bees and all of our communities. Think many are catching on to the no till hopefully Courtney will sell some setups and have a video I’m going to ask.
