Found a HUGE School of Crappie After Starting Slow | Crappie Fishing Lake Somerville | Summer 2023
Спорт
What’s up Folks?!? Welcome to the channel! I decided to head down to Lake Somerville in the beautiful Texas hill country to find some crappie action! After getting a late start and having little action, I decided to venture out to find some new structure where fish were holding. And maaaaaan, did I hit the jackpot! I found a massive school of fish that at first seemed to be uninterested, but after a few drop downs and agitating the school, I was finally able to get a few strikes and pick off several fish. It ended up being a great day, and I enjoyed every minute of this trip. Lots a lessons learned about how to finesse and stay persistent.
Thanks for checking out the video, and I hope you enjoy! As always, a HUGE THANK YOU for watching, and an even BIGGER THANK YOU for your subscription! Let me know if you have any questions, thoughts or feel free to just say what’s up down in the comments!

The ole leaning pole!!!!!! Nice work! Very nice school you found.

Lol, yep! That pole always has fish around it, you just have to find where they’re stationed on it, im sure you know what I mean! Thanks Scott!
Nicely done. Agree that there are days where a specific color/profile can be all the difference with crappie.

Thanks! And yep, I should have added the “some days” part because there are some days where they will hit anything!
That's why I told you about closing their mouths. Nice work staying on um Will. Grid it out is always a good thing.

Oh yeah, I know the TPWD measuring rules, I just do it when it’s absolutely necessary which is on questionable fish cuz I don’t like losing fish, happened too many times lol! But I appreciate ya sharing the knowledge cuz I’m sure not everyone knows to do it!

Maaaaaan!!! It did! But I think it was a combination of presentation and magic bait being used. One dude was using minnows and he still wasn’t doing like me lol. And that last pile was loaded! Preciate ya 💯

Nicely done man, looks like a lot of the boats gave up and left, way to stick with it.

What’s up Ray? Yep, several boats came out, ran around and left. At the end, a guy at the ramp said three boaters each gave him one or two fish cuz that’s all they could catch. Crazy how tight lipped the fish were but there were some key things that I think made a difference! First, I changed my presentation and action on the bait, second, having that magic bait, and third, finding active fish! Tough day but persistence prevailed!
Keep doing what you do and you'll reach 2k and beyond. I agree with the catch, clean, and cook.

Enjoyed this video. I recently had open heart surgery and cannot crappie fish right now. Good videos like this are the next best thing to it. Maybe a couple weeks and I will get released by doc and can start fishing again. I typically like to crappie fish 2-3 times a week.

Long reply alert!!! It’s a custom color that I had made by Limits Tackle, but I call it the Magic Bait because it works so well on just about every lake I fish! You can order it through Facebook by going to the Limits Tackle page and messaging him through FB messenger. Tell him in your message that you would like the Fishing by the Numbers Magic bait in the 1.75” stinger tail, and he should know the color (if not, tell him clear body with silver & black flake with black tail). Once you send the message, he’ll respond letting you know that he has received your order, or he’ll ask follow up questions like quantity, additional items, etc. He also has a few different sizes and tail variations (tad fry - 1.25” stinger tail and split tail in 1.75” or 3”). He’s a one man shop so it might take a week or two for him to ship your order, or you may need to send a follow up. But you’ll be satisfied with the quality and performance. FYI, I also use a #4 1/32oz sickle hook with the stinger tail, #6 or #8 with the tad fry or #2 with the 3”! Info overload, but hope this helps lol! Thanks for watching!

Ok, I got your message. Thank you for taking the time and the detailed message! I have fish, Lake Conroe, many times, but that is when I was younger. They used to have a Marina called big creek marina. It was a crappy house, and we used to kill them back in the day. The flood of the hurricane took it out many years ago, but the pose on the tires are still there. It’s a pretty decent place to catch fish from time to time. They have a creek that runs beside it, so they have pretty deep water there.
