Yeah it’s no joke. I got hit by a baseball smack dab in the forehead in youth baseball when I was about 10. It wasn’t nearly as fast (it bounced weirdly off the ground) but still hurt like hell. Prayers up to her and her family 🙏

@@laker4life36 it's scary. I saw a kid get hit at a bisons game before. It's triple a. The ball skipped off the cement and right into their stomach. I felt so bad. At the same place I had a foul go right between my head and someone else's. Would have been it. Or at least not all there anymore for me or the other person. It was so fast. The same day when the kid was hit there were two opposing players warming up and the player threw it high and the guy missed it. It skimmed off the side of my hat. An inch to the left and it's the middle of my face or head. I hate for anyone to get hit. But especially a kid. Absolutely hate seeing a kid get hurt or be in pain. Physically or emotionally. Kids deserve nothing but good happy times.

Albert I don’t know if you’ll ever see this but you just displayed to millions what a good man is and proved that they still exist. Some things you can’t control... I got hit in the jaw mid game while I was pitching off a line drive by one of the biggest kids I’ve ever thrown against and I’ve hit a couple people with foul balls in my time so I understand both sides of the situation. That little girl is going to be your biggest fan, bud I guarantee it. I’m from Houston so I’ve always been an Astros man and I’ve been a Cubs fan since 02 and you sir are the pinnacle of why I am the fan I am. @@angelpaige5720 No they don't there are plenty of safe seats they could have sat in. It may be "too soon" but this is a prime example of poor parenting. Move up a deck, sit in the entire outfield, or behind the current net, etc. there are literally thousands of safe seats. Don't intentionally put your kids in harm's way then blame the league/team for the inevitable.

Golden Goat this is the dumbest comment I’ve ever read. This was a freak accident that was very unfortunate for everyone involved. It has nothing to do with poor parenting. They are sitting in good seats close to the field with a really good view. They were probably pretty expensive and I bet the parents worked hard to be able to buy those tickets and enjoy a baseball game with their daughter. I don’t think people should sacrifice their good seats just because they are worried about being hit by a foul ball. This is a matter of the mlb putting up more netting to prevent it from happening again in the future.

  • @exoticnoise420

@@hunternielson9923 they definitely shouldn't put up netting from dugout to dugout though. It ruins the fan experience. Especially the people who show up 2 hours early to get signatures. Look at the Detroit tigers stadium. You will have 300 fans standing in one area climbing all over eachother trying to get a ball or signature. They make family friendly seats at all stadiums. Use them. Let the older kids with gloves sit in the "dangerous" seats. No reason to have a 3 year old that knows nothing about the game sitting right on the 3rd base line.

I played ball at a high level and this has always concerned me. If you're at a field with little to no baseline net coverage, have your eyes open at all times. Even when I've sat in the stands I find it hard to not pay attention fully because of my safety and others around me. When I was about twelve, a hard line drive arched over the backstop net at an mlb game and I caught it right in front of my mom's face. If I hadn't of been there or paying attention, I'd hate to think of the damage that might have occurred. Hope the little girl is ok.

Loveea, I gotta agree. There are multiple comments about bringing a child to a ball game, dangerous, judge judge blah blah... But the true testament of the average heart of the American citizen shows in the video. Instant reactions showing shock, concern, worry for an injured child, the balls player's reaction, all of those were instant reactions. The judgy preaching going on right now isn't accurate. It's a delayed RESPONSE, not the genuine REACTION the video can't hide. And the reactions show that even though we're a violent, judgemental, overly sensitive group of people (ALL of us Americans), we're good folks, on the average. We react with compassion. (I still believe in us, damnit)

I cannot imagine the grief and remorse the baseball player must feel. It was a accident and of no fault of his. The anguish on his face was heartbreaking. The MLB needs to step up and provide more protective netting. The unfortunate child did sustain a major head injury.

I personally waited to take my daughter to her first MLB game until she was about 4 1/2. Before the game, I told her this would be a lot of fun but we need to watch out for the ball being thrown or hit towards us. I was like a hawk the whole game, we had a few close calls but she was aware of that every time. I didn't drink or anything like that, just enjoyed the game with my daughter and paid attention. These days you see so many people talking with other fans and drinking way too much or with their faces stuck in their phones even with little kids around. Pay attention, stop looking at your phone, you don't need to smash down 3 beers just to enjoy or relax. Especially if your child is there and under your protection. I feel terrible for the player and the little girl. This happened once already and people don't learn. Hope this girl has minor injuries and nothing broken or needs any major surgery.

jonathan sanchez They do, in some stadiums. But, to be fair.. one of the magic moments of baseball is catching a foul or homerun ball. These seats without nets are literally CALLED foul seats, and in many areas are even more expensive because you get the chance to catch and keep an MLB teams ball. While technique is a factor, Almora isn’t really at fault. Those parents had a choice to buy a netted seat and didn’t. It’s neither party’s total fault. But with the consecutive injuries.. I don’t know. I’d hate to see some of that magic go, and those seats are a known risk, but.. the safety of kiddos and the elderly is certainly more important.

Shes 2. News reporters need to stop making statements if they aren’t sure about anything and just be honest “I don’t know if she will be okay” would have sufficed. Because she’s not okay, she is suffering from permanent brain damage. Which will lead to seizures and medication for her the rest of her life. I copied this from a news post about her: “Mithoff said doctors have described the effects of the injury to her central nervous system as similar to those of a stroke. The areas of the brain affected include those in which injuries can lead to seizures, loss of sensation and loss of spatial awareness, he said. Other potential effects include periods of unresponsiveness and staring spells, frequent headaches and night terrors, he said.” I feel so bad for the parents and this baby AND the player. But I really do hope there’s a way and hope even though it seems really thin.

About 1,750 fans are hurt each year by foul balls at MLB games, citing an analysis by Bloomberg. This equates to a rate of roughly two injuries per every three games, making a fan injury from a foul ball a more common occurrence than a batter being hit by a pitch. The balls are faster, the seats are closer, the solution is called protective netting, and it must be extended beyond the current limits and used on all stadiums. Teams are not liable for medical expenses, by buying a ticket there, you're fully responsible for any ball events.
