Neglect. Probably abuse. She had no idea how to be a dog or how to be around people. Also she acted like she expected to be hit all the time. It was heartbreaking.

Some time it's just who the dog is. Not every dog is beaten, some dogs take awhile to warm up to people. I had a dog who wouldn't eat for days.

Max made her feel safe. Having another dog there is HUGE for a scared dog. They see that the other dog is confident and not being harmed by people.

Yeah. I foster abuse case pits. And my own girl acts as the best "foster mother" for pups and role model for older dogs that I take in. I think pretty much if youre going to foster traumatized dogs, you need a stable well trained dog with you. Theres only so much a human can do when youre dealing with a dog who has been mistreated *by* people.

​@@childofcascadiaSo true. The stable dog in your home can give the traumatized pup the confidence they need, especially when theu see how that dog interacts with humans. They realize that not all humans are cruel or negligent. It makes all the difference. For this sweet girl, the fact that her forever home also has a confident stable "sister" has helped her finish her journey from a scared pup hiding behind the flower pots, to a fully confident member of the family claiming her spot on the bed like she's been there all her life. I just wanted to hug her and kiss her, and call her George!

I read that Iris passed back in June of 2022 and my heart broke in pieces. She was a gorgeous animal. 💔💔💔

Me too. Broke my heart to see how broken she was😢 I'm glad she's got a good home. What's so sad to me is she finally was doing so well and she has to go through with being adopted out to new people. Which she did well but I just feel like they have to leave their safe place and more adjustments. But I'm thankful that she's got a forever home. Makes me wanna huge my babies right now. Of course to are laying beside me right now. You couldn't get a sheet of paper between us. 😂 I ❤ my babies.

Pit bull propaganda. Pit bulls have KILLED OVER 100 PEOPLE JUST THIS YEAR, and the year isn't over yet. Why do they push a DEADLY dog breed so hard to try to convince people they aren't dangerous when they WERE BRED TO ATTACK AND KILL? HUNDREDS of people and THOUSANDS of other innocent animals maimed and killed by pit bulls every year. The Dodo has blood on their hands.

I can't imagine the terrible things she must have gone thru to put her this way. Now its time for a good life

That just hurts your heart to see her so terrified like that, and here comes (foster) dad slowly and very gently picks her up and gently takes her inside was so precious. Thank you for being so kind, loving, and patient with sweet Iris❤

This pittie was completely scared of everything and everyone!! She was terrified, until this kind man, came along and treated her with lots of love and kisses and hugs and kindness!! That's what I'm saying!! She is a cutie pie 🥧.

Pitties are the most amazing dogs on the planet. I lost mine two years ago and the hurt is still real. Never had a dog so affectionate and loyal and intelligent before and feel like I'll never experience it again. Love to our Max.

*Family from Oahu mourns baby killed by pet pit bull* A couple from Oahu lost their baby after she was attacked by their pet dog. It happened Monday in the northwest Las Vegas valley. Layla Tsuda, who is originally from Kaneohe, said in a statement: “I have no words to explain my pain.” Six-month-old Kamiko was playing in a baby walker near Mana, the family pit bull, when it happened. According to the family, Tsuda went to the bathroom and when she came back, she found Mana biting the baby. Kamiko was taken to the hospital and later died. *The family was blindsided by the attack. We’re told Mana has been a part of the family for nine years, has never bit anyone before, and was considered a good family pet.*

If only more people would show the same affection for the homeless, the world would be so much richer.

Iris just needed time to come out of her shell. Now she's teaching other dogs how it's done. So precious. I'm glad she's in a loving home and she deserves the best spoiled life! 😂❤

I have an "Iris". He took 2 months to allow me to approach him without peeing on himself and the day that he jumped on the couch, I actually cried. Thanks to all of you amazing fosters out there!

I’m old and I love to see all of these younger people take care of and love abused and abandoned dogs and cats. It warms my heart to see families like this one who have the patience and love for these pets. I can’t thank them enough for giving dogs like Iris a chance. It looks like Iris has found love from humans.

Fortunately, in this crual and selfish world with animals, there are more and more people like you ❤❤❤

Omg what a sweet gentle baby. I thank God someone found her that was patient enough to give her the chance she deserved.
