It was cool to see one of the quarries for Green River fossils... Those fish, rays, and things are sold in rock shops all over the world. Even up here in Canada, you can't step into a rock shop in any city or near any national park without practically tripping on them. My fossil club was actually going to go down to Wyoming to check out one of the quarries this summer, but that didn't happen... Maybe next year? :) Thanks for the looksee though!

Wow -- what an amazing adventure! This is something that Shane will remember forever. By the way, I hiked to the top of Half Dome on Thursday (September 10th). There was a lot of smoke -- and it was every bit as difficult a hike as you described. We couldn't see much in regard to the view from the top either. However, I loved it! Thankfully, your video (with Natalie) helped prepare our group better than any other video that we found. The smoke changed things up just a bit; however, the eleven of us in our group (most who flew in from out-of-state) are grateful for that video!

Wow! What a unique experience and what an awesome souvenir to remember the trip. Glad you were able to procure a tour and so cool that you found some fossils. I always try to find unique activities on our travels as well but I can’t recount one this neat. Well there is an abandoned section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the central part of the state complete with abandoned tunnels. You are allowed to hike or bike on it and through the tunnels. We did that a few years ago. Really neat but fossil hunting has that beat. I honestly have never heard of this NPS site and had to look it up. It’s really in the middle of nowhere, definitely a destination site. Was there much to see at the monument or was it really just a large swath of preserved land? Looked like a beautiful area though.
