Fossil Crocodile! Paw From a 185 Million Year Old Beast

Here is another video from one of our fossil hunts, make sure to stick around to the end of the video to see the special fossil at the end! This is an insight into the past, what life was like 180 Million Years Ago even before many of the most famous land-dwelling Dinosaurs ever existed.

I’m from a small town in the “heart of Alberta”, Canada (about an hour away from the famous drumheller) I’ve loved dinos as far back as I can remember, always wanted to become a marine Palaeontologist since I was little, if anyone has any sites that arent too far from Stettler I’d love to hear them 😊

Beautiful finds! The marine fossil site I used to hunt had mostly crinoids and such, never did find an ammonite there. Luckily there is a large lake about 30 miles away from my home where they are just weathering out of the rocks. Those you found, however, are superb--I love the golden pyritized coloring. Thank you for sharing.

Tools remind me of some years as a sculptor. Often worked on a sturdy bench with a dense sand as a durable bed under the marble slab or serpentine. Good solid base to stabilize the medium on which I worked, hammer and chiseling away.

What tools do you use when you get home? I have never worked on fossils like yours. But if I ever do, I want to do it right. Sandstone, chalk and mixes I deal with require a lot of delicate scraping.I even use dental picks to not lose even the tiniest detail.

Great videos, me and my 2 sons love coming to Whitby in summer to look for fossils, we don't find anything as amazing as you find, but I always wonder are these different colour rocks are from different geological periods. Mostly fossils are found in black rock, but what are these other red and yellow and white rocks are?
