Fosoto FT190b cheap ultra light stand
The cheapest ultralight light stand that's still pretty stable. Of course once this video comes out, they will jack up the price lol. They come in different colors, it seems the gold color is the cheapest. AliExpress seems to have the best choices.

Super Light & super Small when collapsed (for AD200 or small LED)
They’re all 19” collapsed
the cheapest of all the light stands is still the Impact LS6, $20 but shortest, longest when collapsed Collapsed 26” and heaviest of the ultralights (not that 811g is heavy)
Nissin LS50C Carbon Fiber Super Light Stand 86” 7ft 2” 561g $170 Collapsed 19”
lightest, shortest when collapsed and was the tallest, but $170
Flashpoint nano runner 649g 81” (6.5ft) $80 Collapsed 19”
like all the others and pretty cheap for a carbon fiber stand at $80, but now I have something much cheaper
Manfrotto carbon Nanopole 783g 7ft (84”) $156 collapsed 19.5”
Fosoto FT-190B 85” 7’ 1” 1lb 6oz 624g only $32.50! Collapsed 19”
now the tallest and cheapest similar to Nissin LS50c in height, weight and sturdiness

You're the king of the cheapest deals, thanks!
Woo whoo! Looking forward to trying out the light! Thank you! The detail you go into on all of this equipment is so practical and helpful for those of us first getting into this. Really appreciate it!
Keep your light stand recommendations coming. It's the nature of tech to eventually bring out something lighter, cheaper, stronger, taller etc. That's just the way it goes and as you say none of your recommendations are duff. Many, many thanks Markus.
Well Mr. Markus despite my thinking you certainly couldn't have any more light stands to present to us.. 'son of a gun' looky there! Not only is it like one of your favorites... it's at an incredible price-point too.
Thank you for everything you show us and all that you do.
What a great find! I travel a lot and really appreciate anything that keeps the luggage lighter! Big THANKS!!

Keep going Markus, I'm always open to new ideas. Even though I cannot travel around like you , I always enough seeing your travel videos.
Your videos have been so helpful. I actually decided to get an AD-200 instead of the AD-300 because of your videos and have not regretted that one bit! Your obsession towards lights, stands and modifiers means whenever I search for something on youtube, your videos pop up and give great advice. Thanks so much Markus! Mine arrived. Love it. I was able to mount a Godox AD200 with a 2x3 SmallRig softbox on it and it handles them surprisingly well. It doesn't bend forward or anything like that. Of course a sandbag is the next way to go but it is really sturdy and light. Thanks for sharing.
Solid info as usual! Thanks again, Markus!
Thanks, Markus! How you remember all that info about each stand is beyond me!

I love cheap... tall... packs down to small... and light! Being a gal with gear *music gear and video production gear.... this makes me very grateful because I'm always wanting to do the best job but without everything being huge and heavy!. I'm so lucky I found you! (and I'm touring this summer ... lead guitar...with just a lil' Sans Amp foot pedal in my all-female Motley Crue trib.) Small is awesome! Thank you for this thank you!

I use the Ikan version of these. The design is fantastic as the legs can be aligned as to be completely horizontal on the floor giving utmost stability.

Cheers for the video Markus. Just bought the Fosoto and it arrived today. I’m actually really surprised at the quality… I thought it would feel cheap cos it IS cheap. But it’s surprising sturdy. I set it up with a Godox AD200 and it seems fine. Really handy for quick shoots or weddings. So damn light and collapses down pretty compact. Even if it breaks in a few months it’s worth it… but it feels like it could last once it’s not mistreated 👍👍 Subscribed.
Would they be able to handle Nanlite Pavotubes? Btw, I would love to see if down the line you can review pavotubes as a lighting source for videography

Great video as always Markus! I have 3 of the $32 FT190 stands and 1 of their $80 carbon fiber version of the same basic stand and I prefer the FT190 for being a touch more stable without being that much heavier. Plus the price can't be beat!
That "D-oh!". Just ordered the golden one. Looks very handy.
Thanks again for your unbias review.
Thanks!
I came across that light stand on Amazon, bought one and then immediately two more. They are fantastic for travel, as I’ve never seen anything fold down so small. Price when I purchased was $39.99

Yes!!!
Hello markis I went with the flashpoint 9.5 I think it was $29.99 the price was right pluss it's air cushion and all the clamps are metal and you can't get the clamps in different colors. Minere are yellow and the hight is the name 9.5. I'm not going to be backpacking and they stack down around 2ft. so for my first ones I got (3 of them) I tried to get my money to last with the air cushion and metal clamps. Only time will tell. Thanks for helping look for those parts I needed to make a smart purchase.
I settled on the Fosoto FT-220 in blue so I can feel like I had enough to afford the Nissin. Found one seller on AliExpress for $52. And it comes with a 3/8 thread on top....wow.
omg ... must get one to try
Gotta get this!

Yup! Fosoto already out of stock pretty much anywhere !

🤩
Marcus, thanks for the wonderful videos. The FT-190B is an aluminum stand, but in China Fosoto also makes an identical carbon version with a different model name, it’s about double the price The aluminum version has multiple color selections but the carbon one has only one version The carbon version has the stereotypical carbon fiber pattern on the main pole. The aluminum version has a black pole

Can you tell me how much the carbon stand weighs? I did not find this information on the data sheet.

The spec sheet on the fosoto website says 0.8KG

Pro tip: drill a hole in one collapsed foot, insert a key-ring - and attach a sling. Attach a double foldable umbrella using 2 rubber bands. Now you have a comfortable carry over the shoulder light kit.
Great video. I have learnt so much from watching these videos. Love your energy! Have you looked at the neewer carbon fibre. It’s like the ulanzi but taller.
@MarkusPix
Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Glad you enjoy them. The Neewer CF stand weighs twice as much as the Fosoto in this video which is the same height and is less bulky when collapsed.
Nice video
Hi Markus. Thanks for another great practical comparison. Weight is important even if not traveling. I dont have an assistant but I love to light a scene well which means gear and weight. Thanks again. I see fresnel in the back of your video, did you ever do a fresnel adaptor comparison? I am looking at the Godox FLS8 vs the Aputure 2x fresnel. I want to use it on my led but also my AD200pro, AD300pro & AD600pro, so I know the 2x wont work for most strobes but the mark 1 would, but its not available on my island. Wondering about beam spread quality before buying.
Purple ones are 25.68. Got 2 for 40 with coupon.
Very nice video! I have a question about these kinds of stands I've been wanting to use an Aputure LS60x and light dome ii and I've been searching the internet trying to find a portable light stand that can handle that kind of weight. Do you have any thoughts and recommendations? Appreciated
Just bought one
That is a lot cheaper. Great find.
I have that style of light stand comes in handy because it's so portable. I wouldn't use it outdoors not stable enough for me.

Hi Markus & Cara. Interesting... What are the fittings on the top ... What I am thinking is to use it as a general tripod with optional height for my Sony 405.. which on your recommendation.. I bought and am extremely happy with.. The settings are amazing... Could you do a video using the 10,000 FPS. & I've filmed Jupiter & the Moons... Have you found the spare battery compartment, there's a trick to opening it.. People use that area to install Microphone sockets which I will be doing. Regards from Bella 🐈 & Mark.
i ordered one before the prices shoot up to 40 bucks. thanks
Hey Markus, great video. In terms of load capacity, would the Fosoto hold well with like a mini flash on a 90cm octagon soft box? If not, what are your suggestions?
@MarkusPix

It can hold an umbrella but anything over that is iffy.
I can't decide between the Fosoto FT-220 ( carbon fibre version) and the NEEWER ST210R. Can you give some advise? mainly used for wedding reception.
Nice! Always got the connect Markus and my wallet thanks you for that!
Thanks. This is really cool. Another option is a carbon fiber selfie stick. For backpacking it is even lighter and smaller. It requires propping up, but is good when every gram counts.

tried one of this, not sturdy at all. flimsy and would wobble with a speedlight on top of it
I have received both FT-140 and FT-190b and there is one thing I have been surprised with - both have sturdy legs. Out of that type of lightstands I had only Quadralite Verso, which had legs so weak you could twist them with bare hands, never mention standing on these legs by accident or weighting them down with something actually heavy. Combined with stupid leveling system, which made it equally hard to position lightstand on flat, level terrain as on varied, and I did not even consider getting another foldable lightstand, tossing Verso to a dusty "garbage gear" corner. Now with Fosoto I have ground to reconsider my decision with other brands!
