Wow! Love the cobblestone streets as you make your way to the fortress. This fortress is extremely impressive! I love historic structures like this and it’s looking in excellent conditions still. Hi Paul. Austria is famous for its castles and medieval towns. Salzburg is a really beautiful city, and the tour you took us on was wonderful. You had a great day for a walk. The castle is well preserved and beautiful. Of course the museum is fascinating. We didn't even expect that it wouldn't be full of antiques from armor to weapons. One beautiful video. Even just climbing the walls must have been exciting and being in a place where in ancient times archers shot attackers from the walls. Take care our friend and have a nice week. I enjoyed Salzburg and I'm not a big fan of cities. I got real lucky with the weather on this day. It was raining that morning and a couple of hours after my trip to the fortress a really bad thunder storm came in. I made it to the train station just in time. However my luck ran out the following week when I visited Hallstatt.

Hello Paul, loved the walk up the the Fortress, lovely views at each level. The Fortress is amazing, its is very impressive. The views from the top of the Fortress were stunning. The weather looks gorgeous. There are lots of nooks and crannies like you say, The museum looked very interesting. So many view points. fairy tale like intro! A bit of a mountain climb to get there but the view is spectacular. The multimedia museum room is a nice modern touch with some interesting history things to explore. Couldn't hear the question at 22:59 cause of the crying kid.. Really nicely set up museum in a castle and interesting they show a kind of a timeline. Salsburg is bucket list. Fortress Hohensalzburg is a good destination there and enjoyed the tour👍

Hi Mike, yeah a bit of a climb to get there unless you took the funicular. I always like to walk. It probably didn't help me mumbling as I wondered around the museum. It's a bit like a library, except for the screaming kid, where talking loud I might seem like a loony...well actually 😂 I'm not into cities that much but I enjoyed Salzburg and there's lots of places to visit close by. Unbelievable place Paul!! The views from the last tower are incredible! The castle complex is huge! Never realised it was that big. Shame you couldn’t get fully into the Church but otherwise what an amazing place. So much to see - and what a glorious day you had for it. We will definitely be visiting here in September. Our daughter has played Maria in the Sound of Music many times and loves Salzburg. So we will all be visiting this beautiful city. Great tour mate and thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍

An amazing castle and tour, Paul. Bat's in the pockets and all! Stunning views from the ramparts and plenty of cannon to keep the riff raff away. We couldn't hear what you didn't do because of the children laughing and carrying on. Best to turn the cannon around on them! 🤣🤣We enjoyed seeing all the displays and the lovely village inside. The woodwork inside the church was lovely. Beautiful views of Salzburg and the gorgeous mountains from the observation deck. Thanks for bringing us along.

Paul, this is a fascinating place! The views from the fortress are impressive! The place definitely has a lot to it! To be able to walk around this area and imagine what it was like back then must be a bit mind-boggling! The church looked beautiful. Such an incredible history! I really enjoyed the displays and artifacts areas. Thanks for taking us along here 😊 It's funny. When I see tours inside of the castles, I always feel like it looked like they would've been drafty.

Hi Paul, Beautiful historical fortress. As you, I would have chosen the steep hill instead of taking the cable car. It can see beautiful scenery. The view from the top is stunning. I remembered when I went to the Alhambra Palace in Spain. There was a cannon like the fortress Hohensalzburg Fortress. This doll museum is a little scary as there are bats and dolls with just faces. Beers in the fortress sounds good 😋😆 if they did that in england you'd get a bunch of football hooligans getting boozed up and singing England songs. Looked like quite a hike up and around the fortress, the place is massive! The museum was a bit nightmarish, like a dari version of Hansel and Gretel. Great views all around. Never been to Salzburg but will definitely put it on the list!

The fortress was the kind of place that left you wondering whether you had seen it all when you left 🙂

We did fancy this fortress when we were staying down the road in Wolfgangsee. Like the walk up, convenient way of paying for the tour. €13.80 seems pretty reasonable compared to EH prices! Some amazing cafes and viewpoints on the way up. Great views over Salzburg. The thunder vernicular! Busy old place. Great positioned cannons. Some of those Germans/austrians have very evil laughs! Splashed out on the museum tour 😂 scary figurines! Amazing views from the observation point and I feel like less people have bothered to walk all the way up to the top! 👍

Yeah €13.80 wasn't too bad for what you got to see and I was pleasantly surprised by the castle tour. Having said that it was far from hermit friendly. I'm not a museum person but it was either a basic ticket or all in so went all in. It was one of those I've paid for it so I will have a look around 😂 The observation deck was probably the best spot all day for me. I think a lot of people are maybe too lazy or didn't know where the entrance was. This was the kind of castle where when you left you had the feeling you had missed bits. Hi Julie n Lucy, when not in the mountains I do like a good castle, although it wasn't hermit friendly at all. I was probably one of those annoying tourists walking round with a GoPro 😂 I think my laugh is more cheeky than evil tho it was quite an impressive laugh 😂 I'm not a museum person but I'd paid so I thought I'd have a look. what they heck?! i watch this whole thing, and all i get are spectacular views and interesting commentary. where is the dragon? i want dragons at my castles moving forward, the anne mccaffrey kind, if you please. 👀🤣 i would love a meal and a drink at that restaurant. the air, the view, would be nice. the thunderous funicular is cool. it's all cool. ahhhhhh! some odd displays in the museum, it could be a bit unsettling to kids! was that a fake cow when you were leaving?! lol! have a great one, paul! 🛴❤

Hi Anne, well there was a St Georges Church but no dragon. I guess George slayed it 🙂 I do like to ramble on when in these places. It would be a great place for a drink but after having a beer in Bindalm it didn't seem that good 🙂 The views were pretty commanding and you could see why a castle was built there being able to see for miles around.
