Yes, watch the Matrix. But don't be bothered so much with the sequels. You can consider those "optional". If you've nothing better to do, when you have no more TV boxsets to binge on. It was clearly devised as a one movie storyline, but then it went and got all big and successful, so the sequels are just some meaningless nonsense - pretending like it's got deep meaning - just to keep the cash cow rolling.
