GORGEOUS. I love your arrangements! The recording is lovely too. Can I please ask for some advice? I'm just beginning in choral composition and I'd like to be able to record a demo of the arrangement before approaching "real singers" to perform a sample recording of the song. I've been looking at some virtual choir instruments with word builders, but they all seem to be tricky to get pronounciation just right, and not that great sounding anyway in the end. What's your process? Do you have singers you work with during your process? Do you record the parts yourself?

Thank you! I actually arrange by recording the parts first, then I transcribe the score from my recorded session. I use a program called Melodyne that lets me correct pitch and timing as I go along, and then also lets me export my recorded vocals as MIDI, which I can open in a notation program (I use Finale) and clean up to get the finished score. For this, I actually went back and re-recorded the tenor and bass parts to make them a little cleaner, and then had a friend record the soprano and alto for me. I definitely think it’s best to have real singers, as the virtual stuff just doesn’t have the right sound (yet)!
