Unlike every other major metro area in the country, which develop around one major city, the Fort Worth - Dallas metroplex developed around two major cities. This video goes over the history of Dallas and Fort Worth, including their foundings, organized crime, the Texas State Fair, Fort Worth's stockyards, and more.

Finally!!! I'm from Memphis Tennessee and only ever drove through Dallas twice and once stopped by on a layover but I have always wondered why TCU vs. SMU wasn't a much bigger rivalry game and broadcast nationally every year since 1948. It makes so much sense and it's never been done. And why hasn't there been a conference with SDSU, UCLA, Stanford, UNLV, TCU, SMU, Huston, Rice, Tulane, Memphis, Georgia Tech, Miami, Boston College, Temple, Pittsburgh, and Northwestern?

Dallas being an ACC city and Fort Worth being a Big12 city is just about the most on brand thing in conference realignment lol
Dallas suburb guy here. Not knocking any of your points, but if we’re being completely fair here we need to scrap Arlington for a square comparison. They’re the only metroplex municipality that insists they have a cultural identity independent of Dallas or Fort Worth. Transportation-wise their mere existence negates all the positives of the whole of Tarrant County. The only downside is you guys’d lose both sports teams, but even then the Cowboys are kind of fleecing both of us. They play in Tarrant but use the name of a city they haven’t played in in decades, while in actuality they spend 95% of their time in Frisco of all places. Good video though. Doing one on the lake construction projects might be something to look into soon. No one ever talks about how quite a few of them were built by German POWs in the 40s, which is absolutely crazy to me.

I constantly think about how, if Fort Worth had an NFL team and Dallas had an NFL team, it would be the best rivalry in the league and make an ungodly amount of money

As Amon Carter said, “FW is where the West begins. Dallas is where the East peters out.” If he had to go to Dallas on business, he would take a sack lunch, so he wouldn’t have to spend money in Dallas.

The only natural lake in Texas is Lake Caddo. And it’s near the border with Louisiana lol

Fort Worth will likely surpass Dallas in Population in a generation.
So what I’ve heard, Arlington is also better than Dallas 😂
