Fort Clatsop Lewis & Clark National Historical Park

Today we explore another segment of the Oregon Trail with Lewis and Clark. Ft. Clatsop was built by Lewis and his explorers as a winter home from December 1805 to their departure back East in March, 1806. They had accomplished their mission of finding a land route to the Pacific Ocean. When they arrived in the area near Astoria, Oregon, decided to build their winter quarters on the south bank of the Columbia River to protect them from the cold winds, but the elk hers were abundant to provide food for the winter. Come join us on a trip back in time at Fort Clatsop.

I just read “undaunted courage” by Stephen Ambrose, I want to get out and see all the landmarks on their journey. Thanks for the video.

Recent retiree. Can't wait to get out there and see our beautiful country again. Recommend Lewis and Clark : Meriwether Lewis and William Clark (FULL Audiobook) for a bit more background on this site. Happy travels.

So much to say, but we try to limit our videos to a certain length. I believe we had almost an hour of video to squeeze into our timeframe. Thank you for the positive comments!
