Hey Y'all..I was Southeastern Regional Champ a long time ago..Engine Builder...I'm 70 now..LOL...used to run with Nobel and Wayne Moore...I had the Track Record Lap at Rd. ATL before they cut it to pieces...I don't know why but I decided to search VEE's..lots of fun!!.. I raced Bikes after that..did pretty good...I still miss it..Best of Luck to everybody!!👍🇺🇸

Hi !!! I’m french and I discover the Formula Vee in this video, this is so wow !!!

Some of the happiest days of my life were spent at Brands Hatch. My first visit was the Race of Champions in 1983, and I was lucky enough to see Rosberg and Danny Sullivan bang wheels for the better part of a lap. I got snowed on at Dingle Dell, and I’ve never been happier!

Some good hustling, real shame about the spin and those mirrors!!

l watched the incident twice...just a racing deal...the guy in front of you got slow in a hurry and as soon as you lifted the suspension unloaded and as you touched the brake it got sideways with no room around you....it happens. Very good drive...very quick through Paddock.......

Agreed. FANTASTIC drive. Blue car was in the wrong place at the right time. I think he paid for not checking sides on lap one...

3 years too late but. i dont agree with it being a racing incident. the mistake was his overcompensating and lost it. inlucky the driver was taking the inside. hard to tell

Yeah I am way late to this, but I think this is all on the poster/racer. shifted down mid corner and induced a spin. Nothing the other guy could do to avoid the wreck.

That was great to watch, looks so much fun.

Un sorry sorry accidents happen and it’s good to see both unharmed and can have a chat and laugh about it over a beer good racing

Cool, i know of racers keeping good luck charms with them never saw one rub his mirror for luck tho. But hey, whatever works for you.

@@hpdracing-hartinperformanc6630 When I raced in FVee a decade ago I had a lucky tee shirt I wore for every race. It was shot full of holes and I'm not generally supersticious but I wouldn't get in the car without it on. I also still have my Sheane so may come back and race it again one day.

I didn't know this formuka existed until I came across this video. Looks great fun.

Great video - I really enjoyed it! I’m watching F Vee now because iRacing is coming out with a Formula Vee car in a few months. It looks like great racing for a reasonable cost - if I ever decide to sell my airplane....

You like that outside line on the last corner, problem is the road camber changes and its easier for the rear end to become light, meaning you cant carry as much speed into the corner compared to the inside line. Good racing though

You’re gonna race cars you’re gonna crash cars. It didn’t look to be a terrible crash, both might have been shook up but otherwise an undramatic crash. I could see you trying to push those corners but the people were good defenders. All in all a good race

Nice driving and video. Using toe and heel during down shifting would help to avoid the spin.

It is! I miss it. That's concrete dust, used on oil spills.

You didn't seem to be doing anything too dramatic and then the rear just lost grip. Car looks good under braking - and starting. You/the car or both. Might need to a) avoid the kerbs or b) fix the mirrors? ;)

David Hartin the guy in front braked a bit more than I expected so I think I over-braked on turn in, then used too much throttle trying to correct the tank slapper :( The engine and brakes are generally in a good place at the moment so the suspension is the next focus. I was struggling to get the nose turned in at clearways all weekend, the bumps really unsettled the car. As for the mirrors, despite being almost new, they're going in the bin!

Vees are underdamped and the engine brake is quite strong.

pretty good graphics on this sim. physics look unrealistic though

The "V" is for Volkswagen. These cars run an air-cooled 4-cylinder engine from the Volkswagen Beetle !

I know this might be a silly questions but when you crash into someone like that what happens? Like who is liable for damages? Or is it like it's expected in racing? I'm wanting to get into it and I'm just curious

avery dillman you pay for the damage to your car, even if someone else caused it. Thats how it is in racing.

Stephen is correct - it is understood by everyone that when you go out on track that accidents can and will happen and that no one is intentionally trying to get into a wreck. If we got into a situation of all competitors needing fully comprehensive insurance, amateur level racing would cease to exist as the premiums would be ridiculous.

I’m just curious are these cars hard or easy to drive

they start to spin while turning when you arent on the gas. stepping on the gas gives your rear wheels grip

Generally quite easy to drive. The control Hoosier tires are pretty predictable, which helps. The trick is getting the suspension setup right for each circuit so that you have the confidence to push the limits of the available grip, I still have a lot to learn in that regard.

@@hebikane Been a while since I did iRacing (like 5+ years). The descriptions I've heard about this car on iRacing indicates it is very loose (like the Skippy). So a bit of throttle through the corner is needed to keep cornering stability. I could be very wrong though.. not actually driven it, just read comments about it. The Skippy was definitely prone to snap-oversteer (I'm guessing this hasn't changed in the intervening years). So getting fast in it is about good throttle control and good skill at using heel/toe for throttle/brake manipulation.

You sure didn't spin on purpose - just a racing incident...

There's a hump there, from the looks of it. I don't think that's in Project Cars 2. Lol. Almost lost it the lap prior at the same place. Just too much lateral G, but what do I know.

Yeah I don't know whether my tire pressures were too high, my front dampers were set too hard or my line was wrong (or maybe all three) but I struggled with the bumps in that corner all weekend, crazy amounts of understeer.

Sounds like a Volkswagen motor or a motorcycle motor

You were trying to not hit the guy ahead but forgot to set the wheel at 0 degree while you were breaking, as this car oversteers when trail braking, you end up getting that behavior. It's quite hard to predict in that moment, but something that I learned to avoid in iRacing. Nice driving thought.

This was so frustrating to watch. What’s the point of entering a race if you’re so scared to attempt to pass cars? If you want to just ride around with other cars on the track then participate in open track days or something.
