Formula One World Champions (1950-2022)
Спорт
Formula One (also known as Formula 1 or F1) is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The World Drivers' Championship, which became the FIA Formula One World Championship in 1981, has been one of the premier forms of racing around the world since its inaugural season in 1950. The word formula in the name refers to the set of rules to which all participants' cars must conform. A Formula One season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix, which take place worldwide on both purpose-built circuits and closed public roads.
Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher hold the record for most World Driver Championships (7). There have been a total of 34 World Driver Champions between 1950 and 2023. Sebastian Vettel holds the record for the youngest driver to win a World Championship at the age of 23 years, 04 months and 11 days. Juan Manuel Fangio, who has won 5 World Championships, holds the record for the oldest driver to win a World Championship in 1957 at the ripe age of 46 years, 01 months and 11 days.
There have been a total of 1079 Grand Prix held in its history and the gentlemen in this video have won 808 or 74.88% of them!

Don't forget that a major force that got Ferrari back into championship contention was with Ross Brawn leaving Benetton and went to Ferrari as its technical director; where, coincidentally, Brawn was also the tech director for Benetton when Schumacher won his championships on that team.

2023 is what separates Schumacher from Senna, Hamilton etc.... he could galvanise and lead a team like none else. He could win with a dog of a car like in 96, 97 and his ability to develop a car was legendary. not forget it was Schumacher working at Mercedes for 3years that set development path that still sees them win championships. He is was the greatest all round driver ever. 2023 Hamilton has demonstrated that he's incapable of pushing or developing a car and relies on the team .. there woundnt be any championships for Ferrari if Michael wasnt there ..

Senna is for me the biggest “what if” in the history of the sport. 94 he died, in 94 Damon got the vice championship only losing cause Schumacher hit him in the last race, Senna was miles better than Damon. 95 Senna would have car to win again, but let’s give it to Schumacher. 96, that’s Damon, Senna could win again (with 36 and his fifth illusional title). 97 that’s Villeneuve, Williams with another car capable of winning a title, could be sixth, with 37. 98 and 99 two wins for Mika, nothing new. Senna could retire now with 40 years, but he always said that his dream was drive for Ferrari before retiring. 00 Ferrari hegemony starts.

Some tremendous drivers there, and some who never got there due to dying trying. Gilles Villenueve is one that comes to mind. Some wouldve had many more than they did, but died young. Great champions one and all. Nicki Lauda once said James Hunt was the one driver he respected the most, and was sometimes intimidated by.....
Senna legend off chart - Schumi the perfection - Hunt absolute superstar, his race at Fuji in 1976 under the pouring rain was a deed of bravery really impressing perhaps he knew that race was the only chance to be a WC in F1 and He did it prooving what a great driver he was, I admit that others were better but GILLES VILLNEUVE and JAMES HUNT are my favourite drivers just because they personified what means to be a driver: GO FASTER THAN THE LIGHT ANY CASE ANY TIME. SENNA WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST for me he is the real M Jordan or Maradona in car racing, he could win with a micromachine under his ass, If He wouldn't have died so prematurely he could have easely win at least 3 more titles.

The most dangerous era in grand prix racing after the war was the 1950s and 60s . The most heroic drivers to win multiple championships were Fangio and Clark. @@user-360johnn Schumacher's Ferrari dominance didn't come from major regulation changes. They just evolved/progressed naturally. They started dominating in the middle of an era not right from the start of an era. At the start of the era when Schumacher won 5 titles in a row, McLaren or Williams were the best teams for multiple years. Mercedes' dominance came from the 2014 reg changes, that changed F1 a lot. The new turbo hybrid V6 engines were lobbied by Mercedes & Renault, and it greatly turned out in Merc's favor, since Mercedes had been developing those engines since the late 2000s, while Renault missed the mark big time despite being in favor of it. In 2014, Mercedes' engine was multiple years ahead of the competition. It took Ferrari 4 years to finally catch up to Mercedes' engine quality. Honda didn't catch up until 2021, and Renault never catched up till this day. The token system in introduced alongside the new 2014 engine and aero regs, also ensured that teams would make slow progress, which meant that Mercedes dominance was locked in for years.

Watch the video of Vettel listing all of these champions by year from memory. That was impressive.
E così mi restano i bei ricordi! Like 15393
Schumacher's 5 in a row is flipping crazy! I hope he is improving after that skiing accident!
From the much earlier years Fangio was a legend. Then, the 1970s was a fantastic era with Stewart, Fittipaldi and Lauda. The 1980s and early 1990s gave us Prost and Senna. Then, the legendary Schumacher dominated. Later, the legend Hamilton and Vettel. Schumacher and Hamilton were the greatest champions. Senna was the greatest pure drive and died way too soon.

Maybe in 2026. I hope McLaren doesn’t try to become competitive in 2023-2025 so they can really focus on the new era. They shouldn’t waste too much resources because they are just too far off to climb back. This should be the opportunity to hone Piastri and Norris skills and experience. Remember things switch extremely fast with new eras. Hell it’s not crazy to think Haas won’t dominate, you never know… Mercedes went from meh in 2013 to completely crushing the field. Every team really has the potential to dominate in the new era we have to wait and see!

Nah not really
British teams won a staggering 20 consecutive drivers' championships between 1980 and 1999 but only two were won by British drivers (Nigel Mansell in 1992 and Damon Hill in 1996).
jack brabham (sir jack brabham) only person to build a car and win championship
Me parece simplemente maravilloso que la silueta del campeón de 2023 sea Don Fernando Alonso Díaz "el Nano"
Fangio winning with multiple constructors, toughhh
El más grande, Juan Manuel Fangio, 5 títulos en 8 años de competencia en f1. Simplemente inigualable!!!
Fangio the best ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ in fours cars brends 🔘⚪🔘
Senna❤
Say! Interesting seeing Jackie Stewart's picture for the 1969 Champion, with his driving uniform showing "Shell" as the fuel/lubricant supplier, as when Stewart won the '69 Championship in the Matra-Ford/Cosworth, "Elf" was the fuel supplier/sponsor.

You are correct, the picture I used was taken in 1968. I always try to get an image of the drivers from that year, but with drivers from 50+ years ago it is not always possible finding hi-res pictures!

@@tommyracing2011 I can understand the difficulties it was to obtain a color photo of any F1 driver from the 1960s, as I recall from that era with the print publications in the US: They were exclusively black & white pictures. The only time there'd be color photos would be on the magazine covers. All other photos in the magazines were b&w. It wasn't until the past decade that I discover the P68 Ford sports racing car, Cosworth powered, had a red body, as the print media in the late '60s had nothing but b&w photos of that car.

@@bloqk16 Hahaha, I definitely recognize that as well! I was looking at some old Formula 1 pictures from the 50s the other day and every time I saw a colored photo, I was thinking, was that car actually green? I never know what color the cars were after only seeing black and white images.
Panteon de herois da velocidade! Schumacher foi uma pilula muito amarga para brasileiros após morte de Senna. Mas foi um piloto excepcional.
