I hope he's alright. The driver's head is above the level of the halo, at the back of the halo. He still would have landed on his head. I'm very surprised he walked away from that. A disturbing crash. Let's hope that gets some attention to halo design and to the placement of the object that flipped the car.

@Totalgamertb21 Not surprising. After writing this comment, I frame-by-framed it. In spite of the halo preventing a full-on face-first impact with the wall, it did not prevent the top of his head from bouncing off the wall. What a horrible crash.

lmao bullshit, the halo doesnt do anything when something impacts directly on top of it, the halo is only designed to deflect objects that are flying toward it as its moving in a straight line, the outcome would have been identical had the halo not been present

That sausage kerb granted Alex a temporary pilot's license In all seriousness though, it's reassuring to see that he will be able to recover from that accident

The safety benefit from the halo is once again shown in Peroni's crash. Without it, Alex would have landed head first... So glad he's fine and so glad those sausage curbs got removed

@@maxpower892 The front part of it does. The back part, does not, and that's the part where his head hit the tyre wall, after the front part stopped the car and not his head. After I wrote mt last comment, I frame-by-framed the video and you can clearly see the low part of the halo where his head is higher than the halo, not preventing contact with the wall. It has it's uses, and this is not one of them.

Glad to see Peroni walk away! I hate the halo but it sure has saved some bad crashes of late.

He's still in the best F3 car/team, and is only beating his teammates by a small margin. I'm definitely not saying that he won't, but someone like Lundgaard is far ahead of both his teammates in qualifying pace and points.

Could someone tell me why for example Daruvala and Armstrong are able to finish 2nd and 3rd in the first race but only 13th and 14th in the second? Why's the difference so big from one race to another on the same track with same cars and set-up? Only because of the rain or are other things at play? Thanks!

there a thing called a reverse grid race and normally we have two dry races, the 2nd race shows the overtaking skills of who ever won the last race.

Now Codemasters should add F3 to an expanded, deepened career (kinda like FIFA's story mode or 2K's myCareer but better) plus VR support for all modes, more classic cars and tracks, and better physics. Raycevick is right. Codies' F1 is as much an RPG as it is a racing game, and it's time they fully lean into it. Kinda wish they take the year off, actually, and wait for the 2021 season.

To all you guys saying the halo saved him: Skip to 2:23. Press . to advance frame-by-frame ( and , to reverse - as in to go back and forth). You can watch his head bounce off the tire wall. The halo is amazing and a great addition to the sport, and this crash is an opportunity to improve upon its design. Not to mention the placement of obstacles like the one that caused this accident. Lets all look forward to his full recovery.
