Just bought the two most recent DLC, largely because of Ludi’s coverage. Love his content, especially the interest in history.

Excited to watch the run in its entirety, and I hope you end up converting it to Victoria 3!

A balkan Re-write would be cool. Formed Romania in a multiplayer game and the difficulty/work to bonuses for forming it wasnt exactly what I had hoped, not to mention Byz has to be gone for some reason so it means that if someone vassalized them, it is even harder. As well, due to my own ethnic background, it would be cool to see more Celtic related missions in either Ireland or Brittany, both seem to fall flat colonially and take a lot of work to push back their natural progression overlords in Great Britain and France, which though they were more minor nations at the time, their people and tradition still exist in the new world quite substantially - both through war and politics.

If any paradoxical people reading, pleeeeease can we introduce a proper scaling tax slider system either nation wide, on individual states, or preferably a mix of both. Some sort of system where you can increase the tax percentage at the cost of more unrest or vice versa. For one thing it would make tax a lot more impactful as "tall" nations are generally very stable with accepted cultures and religions, not constantly over extended etc, so they can actually take advantage of their high stability by ramping up taxes to match their unrest reduction making playing tall even better. And for non tall play we could lower the slider or even exempt entire states from paying tax in order to lower unrest. ESPECIALLY for the late game as this is where the game really struggles to keep interest, if your going for super wide play for WC etc, you end up making more money than you know what to do with by like 1650 or even earlier and it only gets more insane from there, the option to drastically lower or even turn of taxes entirely to significantly lower unrest would very much make wide play more tolerable. Honestly past 1650 eu4 becomes a different game, you go from interesting nation vs nation play to just.. rebels.. rebels... rebels.. The constant rebel spam is just unreal and not fun. Because of the way things scale with your development you end up with stupid events that cost 50 gold for one nation but 20k for yours, and stacks of like 60k + rebels spawn in the middle of nowhere with full cannon rows and shit it makes no sense. And lastly to make subject play actually interesting and worth it (the eu4 subject AI redefines the term "cursed" lol) Could we maybe make it so you can actually have direct control over a subjects forces as long as they are say, 30% lib desire or lower? and if 30-50% they are stil loyal but they move on their own and wont let you control them directly. You still cant choose what they make or how much they make in terms of military but at least getting to control them would make things soooo much better and reward keeping them more loyal

No cos autonomy affects a lot more than just tax, its a similar idea sure but an extra one that allows the player to sacrifice income for unrest reduction where and when its needed@@pocketman202

Eu4 doesn’t have enough negative stuff for having large empires under your direct control. If you see history, most large empires had a rough time controlling their outer edges and simply didn’t expand cuz they knew they couldn’t manage, something like that in EU4 would be very good, making it so that very far away areas are near impossible to properly manage unless they give local power to vassals like in real life.

Hey Ludi just finished my Byzantium game and got my first WC and first one Faith (achievements wopwop!), thank you so much for the video, really helped a lot in my run. Made quite some mistakes as this was my first serious run since the late 2010’s and a lot has changed with all the DLC’s and stuff xD. Needed a couple or attempts to get through the start and set myself up properly in the middle game but that’s to be expected. My biggest mistake was not backstabbing Hungary and Austria sooner or actively trying to get a PU over them. The last 50 years was filled with all our wars in Asia and Africa with my 6-2-2 ruller Bobbius Accounticus “the Boring” being in charge for a solid 40 yrs or so. A WC + OF with Byzantium is really doable with the core creation cost and the mission tree. Feel like I’m ready for some new crazy aggressive runs next, thinking Oirat or Mughals. Keep up the great work with the videos!

Personally, I would like to see some great campaign from you. Like a movie. But since you are a professional in conquering, I think you should use the hardest mode possible and focusing on economical, cultural and infrastructure development. Starting from Imperator Rome till HOI 4 or maybe even Stellaris. And starting in Imperator Rome as a small nation. Maybe an ancient nation from your home place like Dacia😁.

You can merge your units even with merc companies now! It's super convenient.

The only change I would like to see is in regards to the autonomous missionaries. I have had to constantly cancel and reactivate them when conquering lands from nations with other religions. As soon as I end the war, they immediately start working on them without giving me a chance to click the button to start coring. It would be nice if they could code in a cooldown timer where you have a month or two after taking land to start coring it before the autonomous missionary starts going to work.

The notification flag area is horizontally too small, and the second row gets covered up by the main menu window, which can't be dragged around.

While I love recreating the Roman empire with Byzantium, I kinda like recreating Rome as a Republic with Florence (it's true, despite having "empire" in its name, your leader is elected like every 5 years).

Terrain transformation is would be a good DLC, I want to have the ability to basically play tall as every country. Perhaps with certain conditions (Over 20 development, build woodmill, then you get a deforest province option, which will allow you to turn the terrain into grassland) you could convert forest, woods, and jungle into grassland. The same with converting grassland into farmland, with grassland area over 30 development you could have farm region option to convert that into farmland. So wooded area could be eventually transformed into farmland with lower development cost. I want to be able to play as Ireland without the need to conquer all of Great Britain while playing tall. But its much more difficult to develop Ireland since it is all woodlands except for Dublin, which is a grassland. It would be nice to be able to turn some of Ireland into farmland so that I could develop it easier.

Council of Florence should pretty much mend the schism on its own if you tough it out. Schism mending should be possible without conquest. A post-reunification catho/ortho religion should have different parameters than either individually. Kingdom of God should get a little more conquest oriented flavor.

To Paradox Team's: Could Bohemia and more specifically, Hussitism be updated? My friends and I love the History behind the Hussites and so play as them for larp reasons, however it feels like it needs to be slightly buffed to stand as its own faith. Even more so with the fact that you'll always have an uphill battle to spread the faith and even more so if you want to turn the empire to be Hussite. Though I am biased in favor of the faith, so I don't know the chances this'll become a thing.

Reworking mission trees for Serbia and Bulgaria would be nice. Their missions are kinda boring and not really representing them that well. Also adding some events for Balkan countries concerning Ottomans and their expansion- e.g. events like Byzantines get about Ottomans and war with them, since all Balkan countries were in a really nasty position compared to Ottomans.

I've been trying for weeks now and it doesn't work for me. I do everything the same as you, but I don't have any success with it. Nobody can have that kind of crappy RNG in this game. In 50% of cases, Epirus has an ally and I can't reach him because Otto won't let him through and the war takes far too long. If things go faster and Otto then attacks Dulkadir and I take the opportunity to attack him, he still comes to me immediately with all his men and I die again. Sometimes I manage to win Hungary as an ally, but they are no help either. I'm really at a loss. I bought the game years ago to make Byzantium great again, but I just can't do it. and I finally want to achieve the damn success with it.

you are not thrash. just try again. its all about trial and error. every time you fail you should try to learn something out of it. try to figure out why you failed and do it better next try. byzantium has one of the hardest starts in eu4. just keep trying

I want to like big, sprawling empires, but the transition from micro to macro feels like you're not really playing the same game. Honestly I tend to appreciate empires in CK3 more. While you can still micromanage your vassals' lands, there's a very limited amount of holdings to administer directly.
