I find Sardinia-Piedmont to be easier than Two Sicilies for the simply reason that you start with a little sliver of Provence that you can use to get France to back you in a war. I usually conquer Lombardy, release Venice and get war reps from Austria right at the start.

@@LudietHistoria Not even the Treaty of Turin, just the little bit of Provence Sardinia owns is enough to bring France into a war as a normal offer. You can save Savoy to pull them into another war later when they claim it as part of their natural borders thing.

OMG. Don't do it. Bring Sicily as ally instead. Research general staffs, upgrade your infantry, build up barracks and you're ready to fight. Also wait for Prussian attack on Austria ( they do it pretty often), also Britain could be interested to take you as subject.

@@alexzero3736 I find that if I don't go in with France immediately, Russia will side with Austria, so it's usually the FIRST thing I do in a Sardinia run. Plus side to this, is that if I lose, I haven't invested too much time and can just restart until I win.

@@ayylmao02 na Fascist "Corporazioni" and autarchy ideas are wonky AF. IMHO the three likely points for pivoting Italy are either Florence/Venice uniting Italy back in the 1400-1500 in time to go on colonial ventures, forming a serious federal republic after unification (the Savoyard kings were shit) or staying the hell out WW1 so you get to profit off the war and possibly even dodge fascism. If you have fascism it's already too late.

For someone interest in history 1861 the italian kingdom of Italy was proclaimed but france kept defending the catholic church who was by then confined in latio. After the germans attacked the french in 1871 Italy captured rome so Germany and italy unificated in the same year. I always find it fascinating how italy and Germany despite hating each other, have the same identical History.

I formed Italy as Tuscany. Was very slow.

QUESTION: doing the same Sardinia-Piedmont run as you. Pumped out radicals to progress through the stages, however, when I had the option to form Italy, there was some event "march on turin" or some sorts and Sardinia-Piedmont was devoured by Two Sicilies and thus forming Italy with all their backwards laws and monarchy. Was wondering why it did this?

Central europe is a minor unification so it cannot be done by votes. You must own or subjugate the needed states (tributaries/protectorates don't count).

So similar to the 25% radicals for the Democratic Republic, you also need radicals for one of the Communist events. Because making all the workers rich and stuff is fun and OP, that is what I always do. Anyway, one way to get radicals that I use for that event, is kicking out and replacing people in the government. This generates radicals, although I get why you wouldn't do this (assuming you already know about this exploit, Ludi) is because it is just that. An exploit. So just if you or anyone else is unaware, that is a easy way to generate radicals.

I tried an italy run (as sardinia) yesterday and it went horribly, I declared war on austria and got their four states needed to form italy, after annexing those states the economy crashed, shortages of pretty much everything instantly with SOL crashing, the resorgimento event caused the government to get overthrown and then out of nowhere I annexed and became Tuscany, which immediately had my government overthrown to become a republic, it was after that point (still with serious economic issues) I said F it and gave up. Being a new player SOL feels like an impossible hurdle to overcome, radicals to coincidence mainly because of that with my US games SOL being okish and then crashing to having people 75%-99% below SOL out of nowhere (election?) And I find the price of grain as the us in particular but in general impossible to bring down and fix which contributes in parts to my other issues. Any help for the italy or SOL/radical/grain issues?
