Former Royal Chef Reveals Kate Middleton’s Fave Dessert While Spilling The Family Tea

Darren McGrady was the personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Princess Diana, and Princes William and Harry-a family with notoriously specific food needs-for 15 years.
In this limited series, Chef McGrady will walk you through the royals' favorite recipes from his Dallas test kitchen...while spilling all the most glorious royal tea. First up: Her Royal Highness Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge. Or, you know, Kate Middleton.

for me its discomfort, Because he has dedicated his entire life to being a servant and seems borderline obsessed with them and unable to let go of the past, everything he says seems nostalgic and he seems way too involved with people that honestly wouldnt even know his name after he told them a hundred times, his twitter is full of criticisms over the crown lol, i just cant imagine myself being a servant to anyone, its very strange to just say that so non chalantly, where is the self respect.

@@lemonpartyhellyeah geez you need to relax. We are all servants in a way to our bosses, companies and clients that we work for. The only thing that changes is the title. He seems to be proud of his craft and work knowing he played an important role in the royal cuisine. He cooks beautifully and he’s humble. It makes him happy. I see many people who have these “impressive” titles such as CEOs, surgeons, lawyers etc and yet they are miserable and bitter. Seems like his happiness and fondness for his former employment upsets you. You should look inside of yourself and ask why is this upsetting to you? Let others live and be happy.

Kate and William are making it easier for their children to be able to be comfortable with and make friends from people who are regular people. They will be able to sit at the table and enjoy a normal meal with middle class families and not feel out of place. It's sad when royalty is so remove that they don't know what to do when the servants aren't around to serve them.

Sherry D I know that she buys her own grocery and she shops with the local with only one security person with her. I think Kate with her patience and with her constantly portraying what she says she is won our acceptance and our admiration over time. This is what Kate and William have and what Harry and Meghan seems to lack. Kate isn’t dull, she’s in fact responsible, ambitious and she’s always thinking of herself as a Queen in the making which is why she does her best. On other hand, the judgment Harry and Meghan continue to receive is because of the conflict between their words and views when compared to their actions. I admire how lady Catherine wasn’t heard saying anything or having a comment when the Sussexes decided to announce their departure from the family on her birthday then again when Meghan was out in the public followed by a paid paparazzi to document her support for women shilter on the same day that William and Kate held their public appearance. If anything, it appears so childish and fool to act that way. It surely doesn’t look like Meghan was feeling anxious to being photographed or followed or to be publicized? I thought they wanted to lead a simpler private life?

6 ounces medjool dates, pitted and each cut into about 8 pieces 1 tsp bicarb soda ½ pint boiling water 2 ounces butter 6 ounces granulated sugar 1 cup Scharffen Berger chocolate chunks 1 egg 8 ounces all purpose flour 1 tsp vanilla paste 1 tsp baking powder For the sauce; 11 ounces dark muscovado sugar 7 ounces unsalted butter ½ cup Scharffen Berger chocolate chunks 9 Tbs heavy cream Prepare the sauce by adding all of the ingredients to a heavy based pan. Stir over high heat until everything is combined. Bring to a boil and simmer for 4 minutes. Pour about 1 ½ cups of the sauce into a greased 2 pint pudding basin and allow to cool. Save the remaining sauce to pour over the pudding. Place the dates in a bowl with the bicarb soda and the boiling water. Stir until the soda dissolves and leave to cool. Steps one and two can be done a day ahead. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, add the egg and vanilla and keep beating. Fold in the flour and baking powder followed by the date mix and chocolate chips. Spoon the mix into the bowl on top of the cold sauce. Steam the pudding in a double boiler for about 1 ½ hours. When the pudding is ready, reheat the remaining sauce. Invert the pudding onto a warm plate and pour over the sauce. Serve with Clotted cream, whipped cream or Ice cream.

Gluttony. That was the state of British Kings in the 16,17 and 18 hundreds. Even Henry the VIII was quite stout. Their Ministers and advisers frequently lampooned them in private gatherings. Which is why Royals in this century are keeping sure to stay healthy. One help in that regard is the fact that Kate and Meghan are commoners. Gluttony wasn't a possibility for them. And Kate was a exercise/sports enthusiast before she became a Royal.

Poppy Cohen actually you are not right. The Cambridge’s have never employed a chef. They have 2 housekeepers who do ASSIST with cooking. They have a nanny, she has a stylist, someone to help with her hair/makeup, a private secretary. No chef. Please refer to vanity fair article 2017 and the Christmas 2019 documentary they did. And perhaps you should have listened better to what was said. Caps lock while you think impressive to make your point, is not. Researching data to come up with factual information is more compelling. There are also numerous photos over the years of her doing grocery shopping. While she may not cook every single meal she has always cooked and in fact did all the cooking herself when they were first married. Give her a break.

That is because she was invited to be with the royals at most of their residences and participate in royal activities for almost a decade before they married. She has years to see if she would like that life and if she could fit in. Then she and William lived together in a small cottage in Wales for a few years before getting married with just one part time housekeeper. William also promised Kate's parents that they wouldn't cut off her parents from being in her life, which is what used to happen back in the day. Diana only met Charles on 12 occasions before they announced their engagement. Sophie and Edward are a happy couple because Sophie also had 5 years discreetly living with Edward in Buckingham Palace and was also invited to all the royal country residences with the family to see if she would like being royal and if she could fit in. Meghan I think only me the Queen on two occasions and never spend time with the royals to see how she would like it.
