Former PRR SW7 on the Luzerne & Susquehanna Around Wilkes-Barre Pa
On May 21st, I followed L&S 50 on the remaining trackage which I did not get to on my previous chase. I followed the train from just north of Wilkes-Barre to Sugar Notch on the former Lehigh Valley Railroad passenger mainline and the CNJ Nanticoke branch.

These locomotives are adorable.
Glad you are documenting this line. You never know when little gems like this suddenly disappear for good.
I live in Nanticoke, PA and I recognize many of the locations featured in this video. As I am 74 years old, I can still remember the CNJ passenger depot that is located in downtown Wilkes-Barre when it was being used as a freight depot. There is a single track that is near to the depot location that is currently operated by the Pocono Northeast Railroad. The depot was used for many purposes over the years since passenger and freight service on the CNJ was discontinued. The depot was used as a night club, restaurant, lodging and several other purposes. The depot is in a dilapidated condition and has now been reduced to a token version of its original size. The land were the depot is located has been designated for reclamation and redevelopment. Thanks for posting this locally relevant video!
Nice to se a bit of classic switcher locomotive still earning its keep. Great sounding engines. Horn still has plenty of life aswel!!!
What a rare catch in Wilkes-Barre. Never heard about this until after the fact. Just like the new Acela when it passed thru Nanticoke on the Norfolk Southern Sunbury Line. Thanks for sharing. 👍 👍 👍
Outstanding..love the sound of the now diminutive SW7
Nice video of the Elusive Luzerne and Susquehanna railroad!
Small scale operations and perfect video work ! Can't be better !
Nice to see some footage on this line. Not a whole lot of videos on the luzerne and Susquehanna, that’s to include myself, all the years and growing in NEPA never filmed this RR. Hopfully soon. Have to learn the route. I liked that one shot where you were on the side of a ridge near the river and 309 I am guessing in the back ground. Ice video

I saw that crusty Diesel At another railroad crossing in plains in April
Let's hope they give the unit to a museum in full Pennsy livery
Nice! Can you say how often this track is used? Looks like all automatic crossing signals are removed.

Really great shots, especially by the river. That would make a great scene on a model railroad layout. What is the old factory in the background at 5:00 ? Thanks for sharing. Dave

Dave that’s the old Murray complex that ran along penn ave in Wilkes-barre. They demolished it last year
about time 4:40 in ya video, the crossing has no bell or activation at all for l&s?
I wonder now that RJ Cormsn took over the line if these old girls will get facelifts in the corporate colors
Check out the European rail system with real safety equipment on KZread. Compare their rail system to ours, look at their Cars, Engines, Road Beads, Ties and Signal Equipment. Maybe someday our Corporate leaders will wake up and bring back Passenger service to areas where they left them to die on purpose. Check out the Dutch Railways on KZread for a fantastic Rail System.
