Former Pres. George W. Bush speaks from Ground Zero in 2001 | ABC News

Former Pres. George W. Bush spoke to first responders atop the pile at Ground Zero three days after Sept. 11, 2001.
"I can hear you, the rest of the world hears you, and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon," he said. Responding to the president's words, some rescue workers chanted, "USA, USA!"
This Monday marked 22 years since the attacks, during which 2,977 people lost their lives.

@@tibodeclercq2131 I was just trolling, the nation has never been “united”. Racism and discrimination has been around since 1760’s in the US. From slavery to womens rights to treatment of Native Americans, to Civil Rights Movement to LA riots/general police racism, discrimination towards immigrants (legal or not) and it will never ever go away because that’s just part of humanity.

@@PHXNKVHXLIC it never will anywhere in the world. But bush had a 90+% approval rating after 9/11. Not that Bush was a great president, he wasn't, but this shows that many across different backgrounds stood after a cause. Something we barely see today. Unless some aliens would attack us then maybe we would be more united.

GWB was actually VERY good at off the cuff unscripted speaking. He was horrible at pre-prepared speeches which is where is reputation of being an idiot come from. I have to commend Bush for immediately going to the site of ground zero and making this speech right in front of everybody's faces, where everybody can see and hear him. The presidents nowadays would be sitting in the white house giving a lousy press conference to reporters.

So are the firefighters who just lost there brothers, lost innocent lives because they were unable to help them in time and they will live in regret forever. But they might be laughing but doesn't mean they aren't mad. He's a leader and what he did on the dawn of the attacks, was amazing and inspirational. He handled it like a true leader. Anyways, God Bless you and take care.
