@@succulentflakesofperfectly5541 I think your response highlights a systematic flaw in our treatment of people with mental health issues more than anything. The problem isn't guns, and gun control isn't the solution, the solution is better treatment and awareness on mental health. This man didn't save the school by beating the kid up, he gave him a hug, told him he mattered. The kid obviously has issues to think that bringing a gun to the school is a solution but doesn't mean he isn't just like any other kid who wants to be loved, cared about.

I couldn't help but feel fucked up inside when I saw the reaction to the hug. The young man's frustration with his own life made me think about my sons. As fathers we gotta strike a balance and let our sons know that we love them and that they're still valuable to us regardless to the circumstances. Yeah man. This video had me crying too. For real.

That young man was in 20 different kinds of pain and felt like he had no other option. This coach showed him the kindness and love he was missing. In that moment, this coach not only stopped a shooter, he saved a promising life. I hope that kids gets better and uses this experience to make a difference in the life of someone else who needs it.

I read an article written by Adam Rittenberg for ESPN and Keanon was quoted as saying "It wasn't in me to beat him up or hold him down or hurt him, even though it was seconds after this crazy thing happened. I felt his vibe, I felt how scared he was, I felt it all". _That's_ why he hugged Angel. Well done Keanon, great job. Edit: There is another article written by Greg Bishop for Sports Illustrated where Keanon says of the gun incident and his best friend who died "Taylor was with me. He was right there the whole time".

You are a hero. Both to all those students you potentially saved, and to the distraught lonely individual. You hugging him gave me hope for humanity. I pray that you and the students recover and that the "shooter" finds some love and hope in his life. And you hugging him, was the first step.

That’s the one thing anyone who has gone through this has in common...the pain...I lost my best friend in October of 2013...we went through basic training together, Iraq, Afghanistan...then he committed suicide, it hurt me to my core and put me in the darkest hole...but the pain that myself and my friends, and his family went through, it showed me how much hurt you can cause to the ones that truly love you..all we can do is push forward, life is tough, but we must push forward at all costs, never letting stories of our loved ones end, that’s how we move forward..tell everyone about how good of people they were, how amazing they were

So many just need a hug. I had a child tell me he loved me, I was a coach for wrestling in an affluent area, I started in the youth program. In those programs there were often way more kids than coaches so I never turned down helping other programs. This child was from the inner city not my club but needed a coach so I coached him. He would see me and ask will you be in my matt for me I'd say yes if it doesnt effect my wrestlers. He would smile and say thanks. I did this for a whole season, being at his matches. Would talk to him after. One day I said I was happy for him he smiled I followed it up with I'm always proud of you but happy when good things happen but always proud. This child reared up and said I'venever made any man proud. I hugged him and said you have. He cried and said he loved me. He fell into me and we just hugged there for quite a bit neither of us wanting to stop. My sons saw it and then all 4 of us were hugging.I tell you what I cant do this without crying. He was raised by his gma and she said he talks about me all the time. This child never felt love from a man. And all I did was give him a little attention. Love prevails people.

This is the most selfless man that I have ever seen. At his young age he could possibly be a WR coach maybe an OC in a high paying NFL/College program but decided to go to a high school to educate and make a difference. I absolutely believe the kid with a gun did need someone to care about him and hopefully he can learn and be a productive member of society. A lot of these kids that bring these guns in schools are bullied and maybe there home life is in turmoil and that does not condone their actions.
