Both boats were overhauled and repainted prior to shipping. They should give many years of service, Mike
Already in Irish colours even! Hit the sea running.

@@AirflowNZ yea, they can tie them up in Ireland instead, they have worse manning problems than us at the moment with only 1 ship available and it's about to get worse with many reaching retirement age.
Why don't they just sail them to Ireland. Small yachts cross oceans, I'm sure these two could it, only stopping to refuel.

Graham, they are inshore patrol vessels, they just travelled around coastal ports mainly in the North Island and away for just a few days. Mike
Wow I thought the NZ Navy were cash strapped but at least all their ships they purchase are new.

KD, yes, you are correct, very little public news! However the two boats have been idle for more than two years at Devonport and at least they will be of use to another Navy. Cheers, Mike
Spending money on what looks like toy boats.we need bigger ships.

@phil stabler Our fishing boats can’t fish. Not allowed by EU and our so called navy police this while foreign boats take all our fish
The final part of the plan to invade Rockall ! I hear they're testing the air-raid sirens in Belfast.
No guns ?=

Second hand junk. I am embarrassed for my country and Navy. They are going to show the Russians what for. Nice job on the Video though

What difference would it make if they were brand new out of interest? And TBH Russia doesn't care about the ships you do have let alone these but then that's not the point is it.

@@regregan6852 They were declared obsolete and not suitable for use by NZ navy. A navy with no weapons is a coastguard. Basically we have an army with no tanks, air force with no fighters and a navy with no combat ships, yet spending over a billion a year.
@regregan6852
Жыл бұрын
@@Irishgamer01 not fit for purpose was the "reason", not obsolete, those are 2 very different things...tbh I actually wanted our navy to keep these, the whole reasoning is BS IMO, it's literally because we have the same issues as you, manning. RNZN said they would trade the 2 IPVs for a third OPV (the SOPV) but then conveniently backtracked on that so now we have no 3rd OPV and 2 less IPVs, again, manning, the ships are fine for their intended roles and TBH why would you need anything more capable for the Irish sea unless you are planning on taking on the Royal Navy? They are not intended to patrol the southern ocean here just like they are not for battling "Russians" on the open ocean there.

@@regregan6852 Chicken and egg. No war ships no crew. Who wants to join a navy without armed ships. What we will have is a coastguard.
Cost the tax payer lots . But liked the boats
