Williams cast the die himself and lost. The Governor didn't fail Williams, Williams failed himself at the end. There are millions of kids that have grown up in the same and worse situations as Williams and have chosen different paths. Williams was weak and he showed showed his weakness by never admitting guilt, not debriefing or apologizing for the murders. Not even on his death bed did he apologize to the families.

17 minutes in... This looks like a tv show... crazy man... Sad part is when you make a youthful mistake, that costs lives, you rarely get a chance to atone... Then it took them over two decades... And the "Terminator" ain't even in office anymore... And could have made a mistake (or not)

Honestly, I wasn't surprised by that decision to not commute William's sentence to life. I mean it seems to be a policy to take down charismatic black men who are deemed a threat to the status quo.

If you actually read the court documents, Tookie was railroaded. No evidence outside of witnesses and one was an inmate already 😂. Court Documents said Tookie just started sharing all his deepest feelings plus asked for help with escaping. The leader of the crips asked a stranger in jail for help to escape??? Sounds crazy, not to mention each witness was given immunity 🤨. One thing I know for sure is when them people want you, they'll move mountains to get ya. Idk if he innocent or not, I do know based off the facts of the case he should not have been executed

I remember when they executed him, I was at home glued to the tv. When they finally executed Tookie, it took almost an hour for them to do so. For some reason, I was thinking they were going to grant Tookie clemency. When Shwartzeneggar denied clemency for Tookie, I was like fuck him! I stopped watching all of his movies for years. Smh

However i do believe killing yet another person on top of all the people that were killed dosen't make it better now i dont see the justice in that i believe justice would be for him to serve his time in jail death would just be the easy way out

It’s crazy how 2/3 of Californian’s support the death penalty. I’m sure that’s completely changed in 15 years

This is the trash system we live in he was never proven truly guilty only of being a force in the black community.this man should not have died if it is ever proven that he was innocent I personally want to see all those who spoke without proof to suffer the same fate

I'm a staunch proponent for the death penalty. However, only in cases of truly heinous crimes where the accused are proven beyond any shadow of doubt to have done it. And I've been locked up twice. So I've seen both sides of the coin. It's not pretty from either viewpoint. That being said, Stanley's sentence should have been commuted to life without parole. The case sure wasn't open and shut, but the evidence was also beyond circumstantial. So yeah, life without parole. The state committed an injustice in my eyes.

@10:37 It takes 20 minutes for the drug to take affect before they can legally pronounce the inmate dead. This is so sickening. So basically the person's body is paralyzed unable to move therfore they are unable to inform us that they are dieing a excruciating death through asphyxiation.

He laughed at his first victim, whom he’s got with a shotgun twice in the back. When his victim was in death throes, he laughed his ass off. So, I’m glad he suffered. He also killed three additional innocent people. It makes me sick this guy was even nominated for nobel peace prizes. He didn’t give a shit about peace. He was a ruthless murderer AND The Godfather of the crips…who are responsible for countless other innocent peoples murders.

@Donnell Okafor thank you for your reply. It sounds like you experienced them both which is why you believe its much easier. I would like to make my self clear on thus subject. I do not condone killing in any form or fashion. My frustration stems from the system and how its intentionally structured not to rehabilitate my people. With all these killings going on in the country, you would think that the government would be able to address it considering the US defense budget for 2020 was $718 billion dollars. It amazes me how they are more concerned about spending money on defense to keep the peace in other countries rather than keeping the peace in their own.

He didn't kill Tookie. He was a gangster who killed people and got sentenced to death in the court of law. Yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger could have done something... But do we really want politicians to interfere with the court of law? I'm against the death penalty, by the way. I'm just saying... Maybe the court of law should be separated from what one individual politician thinks.

Look at Trump, making sure to pardon his friends and supporters. Why not just let the court of law be separate from the whims of one individual person? Also, Tookie Williams literally killed people. Why are people acting as if he was innocent or shouldn't have been in prison? He MURDERED people. If murderers don't deserve prison... Who does?

@@Dipset28337 Calm down. At the end of the day, none of us can ever be 100% sure of anything. That said, he was a gang leader. Hardly a saint. Of all the people to look up to... Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Gandhi, even musicians like Bob Dylan or Tupac.... Or people in politics, like the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, who I personally admire a great deal. (In the face of terror, while a Prime Minister, he brought the country together with love. It would've been so easy for him to do a Bush and declare war, but he chose love.) But... A gang leader? Whether he killed those people or not, you know he's got blood on his hands. You're not going to be the leader of a street gang with clean hands. He definitely had dirt under his fingernails.
