Former attorney for Charles Vallow reflects on the Vallow saga

Taylor Larsen was Charles Vallow's former attorney and he talks to FOX 10's Justin Lum in a digital exclusive interview about the upcoming sentencing of Lori Vallow.
Lori was found guilty of killing her two children, J.J. Vallow and Tylee Ryan, and conspiring to kill Tammy Daybell, the former wife of her current husband, Chad Daybell.
The trail of death started in Arizona where Lori's fourth husband, Charles, raised red flags, claiming his wife’s religious beliefs had evolved into something dangerous.
"It was an extremely unique set of facts given to us by Charles,. It's not often that someone comes in and says I want to get a divorce because my wife think she's a goddess and she can't die.. that she's trying to murder me," said Larsen.
The deeper we dug into that.. on its face, when someone comes in and says that, it's not really believable and so in order to go to the courts and play in that arena, you need tangible proof of these things and a lot of these allegations.. it's kind of hard to prove. But Charles was adamant that he had proof.. what he was saying was fact. He was just looking for someone who would listen to his story and help him and help J.J. and secure their safety and do what he needed to do. Charles didn't want really to get a divorce from Lori, it was kind of a last resort at that time. But it was because he started to fear really for his safety and for J.J.'s safety. That's what led him to our office.
It's been very interesting and surreal to see something be played out in the public that I kind of knew privately.. to see it now, here we are 4.5 years later, it's kinda been a wild thing.
Everything that he had said to us was validated now, even through the trial.. it shows Charles wasn't out to destroy Lori.. be vindictive.. or make up a bunch of lies.. he was just trying to be heard and to get safety for himself and for J.J."
In July 2019, Charles was shot by Lori's brother, Alex Cox. Charles later died from the injuries. On Sept. 30, 2021, Vallow's autopsy report was released. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office stated the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death is homicide.
Lori Vallow was found guilty on all six counts:
- Conspiracy to commit first-degree murder of Tylee Ryan
- First degree murder of Tylee Ryan
- Conspiracy to commit first-degree murder of JJ Vallow
- First degree murder of JJ Vallow
- Conspiracy to commit first-degree murder of Tammy Daybell
- Grand theft
Vallow remains at the Madison County Jail in Idaho until her sentencing in Fremont County, which takes place July 31.

I get it. Really anyone can be narcissistic (have narc traits). It’s quite different when it’s NPD (narcissistic personality disorder). Although, IMO, this is too mild a dx for LV. I believe she’s a psychopath. [Not diagnosing-opinion only.] Looking at her family, how they enabled her, the love-bombing, the repeated gaslighting, no emotion, extremely manipulative… This is a big part of why people believed her. I agree 10,000% LE & legal personnel need EXTRA & continuous training to the point of expertise in order to be able to determine what this looks like, to look into a person’s history, talk to their family (considering the source), acquaintances & friends… Did they have bullying tendencies growing up? What kinds of people did/do they seek? Are those people long term, short term friends? Do they seem to gain something from them? Did they get it? Are they very self-involved, only concerned about themselves, not others? What has been their reactions to sad situations & those where a person close to them or a pet is very ill or dies? It takes some homework because anywhere from one with narcissistic personality disorder all the way to psychopath, some of the biggest common denominators are that they don’t stop until they get what they want, they’re extremely good at it, they can pass a polygraph, & in all the many sources I’ve seen, read, & heard, this one I’m about to mention is prevalent in all of them- -*whenever one of these people has come into your life, & particularly when you have been targeted by one, RUN!‼️* You won’t beat them. You can try, but it’s rarely worth it. They can’t be cured, & they don’t think they need it. They think everyone else is weak & stupid & that they are the only smart ones. There is NO amount of $ I would not pay to be able to go back in time having known these things.

Ya, I’ve seen too many interviews where cute/charming women trick police/detectives. One reason to have women in interrogations, we can see past it way easier. Turning on the charm should be suspicious. She’s way too calm and “relatable” for my husband was just shot. Or even my husband is calling me crazy and trying to have me evaluated. She canceled his flight, stole his truck, changed the keys to the house, moved and cleared out the business bank account and minimizes it like that’s no big deal because he cheated? First off, I don’t care if someone cheats or not: doing those things is criminal behavior. The cops didn’t want to get involved. And they missed an opportunity to save multiple lives.

In my personal opinion, there is only one person who possibly believed their little fantasy, and that was Alex. I think Lori enjoyed playing out the fantasy, but I seriously doubt she believes it. Chad used the fantasy to get what he wanted, and she used the fantasy to get what she wanted. They left a trail of destruction and death behind them, and they couldn’t care less, not because they believe the fantasy, but because they are psychopaths with no conscience.

To not only have it changed, but to TELL THE PERSON you fear, that changes have been made, i.e there is no point in killing for money. Tell them you have formally advised police, relatives, friends, in writing of your fears... Hell, do a facebook post! Tell them you have notified the police that if you turn up dead, it's because of this person.... This is the best EVER, life insurance policy in itself..

@@barbtriesAccording to a friend who knew her in Hawaii, Lori bragged to two of their friends, who later told this friend that Lori bragged to them that she had her ex-husband, Joseph Ryan, killed. They told this friend that they didn't believe her because she was always saying crazy stuff like that. If this is true, then this religious thing had nothing to do with the other murders.

Can we ALL just agree.....Chandler PD dropped the ball. In my opinion, I hold chandler pd responsible for the deaths of Charles, JJ and Tylee. After Charles was shot, the let Alex go. That was July, and then Lori bolts, kids are dead Aug/Sept.

I agree. Charles warned Chandler P.D. Lori had been threatening to kill him, THEN shortly after he DOES get killed by Alex who had been incarcerated for stun gunning and threatening to kill her first husband. As a felon he was not allowed to possess firearms! If they didn't listen to Charles after his murder, that was a ref flag and they could have stopped the crime spree right there. Not to mention Tammy getting shot at by what she thought was a "paintball gun" then SHE dies a few weeks later. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. What's up with Chandler P.D.? What's up with Rexburg P.D.?

Charles was a wonderful husband to Lori and a great father to Tylie and JJ . He basically worshiped the ground that she walked on he loved her very much, and it is so obvious. She, on the other hand, is narcissistic witch who, when she removed her mask, destroyed so many lives, including her own. My condolences to all of Lori and Chad's victims, and there are so many of them. She's a dark, hearted master manipulator. And her sidekick Chad is just as Evil 😈.

I Don't think Alex Pulled the trigger.. I think Lori pulled the trigger. Alex and Charles were in their altercation and Lori ran in the room and grabbed the gun. and shot Charles when he turned around to face her.. Clearly he was shot by someone standing in the doorway of that bedroom. It was her, Not Alex imo. it doesn't make sense, if Alex and Charles are fighting, Alex says, hey hold on a minute Charles, I gotta run in my room real quick, wait here. then Charles supposedly is standing there twiddling his thumbs, no that doesn't even make sense..I believe there was no altercation between them at all.. if Alex is the shooter, then he just surprise shot him from his bedroom doorway.. prob called is name, and shot him when he turned around.. the place he fell shows he was facing the bedroom doorway. Can't they tell who shot a gun by residue on their hands.. maybe that was the purpose of the second shot. to put the residue on Alex's hand.
