    Growing up with this belief as well can be disheartening when you’re not healed. If I only had more faith right? Such a sad system. Catholicism is refreshing and beautiful in redemptive suffering.

    I love my Catholic faith so much and want to share it deeply with my friends. My best friend is Protestant and literally spoke down to me so badly over an expression of my faith that I was shocked. I also attended lunches with her friends and they very openly say awful things about "those Catholics" that I simply don't want to be with them. I proclaim that I am joyfully Catholic and when I can, I do try to explain the reason I believe what I believe but it's a balancing act between wanting to talk and wanting to be kind and loving too. Everytime I hear someone say that they never had a Catholic say this or that, I cringe because I know what happens when we do try to speak up.

    I totally agree with Tim @ 42:00, I am a very excited, well evangelized cradle Catholic who enjoys daily Mass and fellowship with my great brothers and sisters! Just because we are very, very reverent and (Tim hit it: "Humble"), doesnt mean we do not have a fire in us. Charsimatics (as Dr Anders answered on EWTN Called To Communion show) are "tolerated", but we do not jump up and down, scream out/shout out in Mass, etc etc etc. It is not the "normal", we have charismatic sects, but I am very uncomfortable around them, as I am traditional. We do have fervor; we do love Jesus; we do love His Holy Church sooo much! I don't like us to be characterized as you said. Peace...

    Your conversation with Tim spanned so many topics that it's kind of hard to pick what to comment on. First, I'll just say that Tim Staples, if you read this, you are one of my favorite apologists from Catholic Answers. For one thing, it's horrible when we Christians say "Well, you just don't have enough faith" to someone who isn't getting what they prayed for. It's so judgmental and unnecessary. (Of course I have a sinful tendency to be very judgmental so I can't really talk) In another topic, you mentioned the Eucharist, and that is a subject of some disagreement between Catholics and Protestants. As Tim said, Catholics believe that the bread and wine literally become the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ. Protestants vary but may view the elements more as a symbol. We definitely should not hate each other for believing different things about the Eucharist. Personally, I suspect that God transforms the bread and wine into the physical body and blood of Christ at Catholic parishes because God knows how important it to you folks, but that God leaves the bread and wine as just symbols in Protestant churches to make the Protestants happy. It might be unifying if Catholics and Protestants were able to share the Eucharist together, but I realize that's currently not feasible. Well, any way, thank you so much for making this video for us, Sara, and thank you to Tim, too.

    Thanks so much for your thoughts! Thats a really interesting point of view - I'm curious how God sees it all : ) Sometimes I think about what He sees when he sees so many varying views. On the one hand, I'm sure He's sad with all the division, and on the other hand maybe he's filled with compassion seeing so many people seeking after him even when they get it wrong. I'm looking forward to finding out one day how God used all the mess we made!

    No. The reason why I don’t believe Mary was a perpetual virgin and had a immaculate conception is NOT because I can’t stand her to be better than me, that’s a weak argument

    I am a Catholic who had to change her misconceptions and prejudices against non-Catholic Christians. I pray that you would do the same for us Catholics. There are too many lies that have been spread about the Catholic faith and Church. Maybe if you encountered a Catholic that has the same experience that you expect from a Christian - being born again, having a personal relationship with Jesus and being baptized in the Holy Spirit while believing everything that the Church teaches, you could change your mind. Or it could remain a mystery to you how that could be possible. There's more of us like that than you would expect. Blessings 😊

    Sorry to the host… but… Tim Staples… a mixed up Protestant trying to make a name for himself in a less bible orientated pool. ‘ *God called me* to be a pastor, but I was debated out of my faith, over to the truth.’ LOL

    What makes a protestant "mixed up"? I don't think that's a very fair assessment of Tim's journey or his current position. Have you listened to any of his story previously? Just because he doesn't agree with protestants - or that he's involved in apologetics publicly, doesn't mean his sole desire is to be "catholic famous". And to that point, who cares who Tim is or isn't? It has nothing to do with his theology being right or wrong.

  • @djpodesta

    @djpodesta

    @@tiberbridgecatholic Where did I say that he had to agree with Protestants? How can God call one to be a Pastor in the one instance and show the same person a new truth in another instance? One of those instances has to be wrong… or the person is confused by the messaging that he is receiving from God. But then again, you may be right and it is actually God whom is confused, not being sure about where He is directing his elect. Or there is another option, but that denies that God was a guiding influence in the first place. It is interesting how unregenerate believers refuse to address the bottom line. But as long as you are all cozy; until somebody finds another ‘new truth.’
