Former Alcatraz Prisoner Returns to Reunite With Ex-Guards
For three years Alcatraz was home for William Baker. The ex-con returns every year to revisit his past. The Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, now a national park, was open for nearly 30 years from 1934 to 1963. It housed some of the country's most notorious criminals, including Al Capone. It was also home to the prison guards and their families. They reunite each year to swap stories from days gone by. InsideEdition.com’s Leigh Scheps ( / leightvreporter ) has more. #InsideEdition

My dad was a guard there from 1956 until 1962... I was born at the old French hospital in SF and lived on the island with my mom and dad. I honestly don't remember very much as I was only two years old when my dad got transferred. But I still have lots of pictures....

The day I went to tour Alcatraz I got to meet him and he signed his book for me
I definitely remember studying Alcatraz in high school, definitely a fascinating landmark even if it was a place for the bad, knowing that families were raised there was unreal, I guess it made sense since they were on a small island in the middle of the open ocean! I’m just glad seeing prisoners and guards alike visiting this place even after decades!
He signed my shirt when I was 7

I have 2 books on Leon Whitey Thompson now there was a badass. I had the pleasure of meeting him, he signed the 2nd book. I think he lived in Grass Valley, he bred wolves I think. He passed.
I read the book Alcatraz #1259, on my trip in USA, me and my wife went out to the rock to check the place out, and it just so happens that Baker where over there signing his book. I talked with him for a while, he seemd like a nice old man. It was pretty cool coz I did meet a part of living american history. With Bakers own word "go out there and meet me before I die".
The opening music sounds like FFVI Magitek Research Facility
Got his book signed by him, Awesome guy!
The 93 year old looks 73 and the 89 year old looks 65. Evidently the water there was pretty nice
I hope the case of the 3 escapees gets solved some time.
I went to Alcatraz and it was sooo awesome
Inside edition got the most banger videos
I got to meet William, he was very nice and I got his signature on the book he made
Man I would love to know William personally 😂
So cool
I'm so glad I survived those days on the rock.
Younknow if you go through things together and as you get older your prospective changes. Soldiers go through wars and will site down and break bread with the enermy. Would you say thats normal or just a respect for each other. Bravo gents
I'm went to Sherman Elementary School with the kids of the guards on Alcatraz. My first deskmate was Johnnie Lou Ashton. She lived on the island until the Escape and then her father was transferred to Leavenworth. I remember being so devastated that I lost my desk mate.
i’ve met this guy and have his booked signed by him!
OMG!!!! When I was at alcatraz he was there signing books!
Good on you mate

I didn't know families lived on the island. To get tickets you have to book them months early.
