I like this pair of boots. The brown/black combination is good. It goes well with black pants and blue jeans. I make much of not only function but also aesthetics. I think I’ll go for this. Thanks for the nice introduction.

My wife and I used these boots on our round the world trip in 2018. Great boots, nice to walk in and saved our feet when we crashed in Kazakhstan.

I wear a 10.5 and the 45(size 11) fit perfect.

Really like them, can wear them around the house all day. But the grippy soles are a bit grippy on my Honda crf300l footpegs, not a problem but I'd prefer flatter treads, the gear shifting can be a bit clunky as the sole engages too much with the peg.

Hi great review, I wear these boots on a gs and they are great compared to road boots with more protection. Not as stiff as a mx pair though.

My 650 was one of the most reliable bikes I have owned. Never let me down and always got the job done. I now ride a 1200GS and believe me I miss the wee even more. Cheers

Dig those boots, when and if the Gaerne G-Adventures ever die they were on my radar. That’s my big complaint about the Gaerne too is the summer heat. Foot ends up feeling like a sweat lodge!

& that's pretty much the only con I can point out with the Forma's. Hard to get that water/ protection while still maintaining ventilation.

Great review. I’m looking for a good pair of riding boots to ride my new 2021 YZ250X in the desert and mountains of New Mexico. Do you think they’d work well for that? I’m concerned they might be a little too chunky for shifting and braking on the YZ. I’m not into racing, older rider (49) on mostly trails and open desert. Thanks!

John, my experience with these boots is that they have a very fast break-in time & are durable. They might not be as slim as a new pair of running shoes, however I have never had any issues shifting gears with their size. Hope that helps 👍

How’s the toe protection on them?

What about protection? I am all into the balance -- I ride on gravel roads, dirt roads, sand roads, tarmac... Say 70% tarmac and 30% off-road. I still have a heavy bike -- both R1200 and F850GSA. I'm looking for protection as much as comfort -- or why buy boots? What other boots did you look at? Sidi Adventure boots keep coming up. I hung for a few months on a trip with a guy who had the Sidi and he never complained -- but they looked uncomfortable to me and sometimes squeaked.. But they had great protection. You have thoughts?

Hey thanks for watching Gecko. I briefly looked at Sidi's but I just really fell in love with the Formas b/c they had that balance between comfort & protection I was looking for. They do flex alot more than your typical motocross boot, but I do a good bit of light hiking/walking in these boots so I wanted that extra movability. I believe these Formas would hold up great in the event of a slide on tarmac/gravel/sand/dirt/etc. But in the event of a hard impact if you were to catch the weight of your R1200 GS on your foot with a hard surface on the other side then you might wish they had more armor. My off-road rides are usually light off-road trails such as fire roads & I think these Formas are all I need. I hope that gave some further insight. 👍

I mostly trail ride but may do a few hare scrambles also. I know they are lacking in the tpu protection like a full on mx boot but i hate the stiffness of a mx boot. Protection aside, do you think they'd hold up for a few races? Considering these and the a star corozal. Any help is appreciated

Hey Griffith, I personally have never worn the Corozal's however I do understand they are a direct competitor to the Forma ADV boots. Speaking on behalf of the Forma's durability after several years of street/light off-road their durability is impeccable. I do see more folks wearing the Forma's over the Corozal's if that matters to you. However if you are thinking about these from a racing stand point, minus the stiff ankle protection, then it just depends how hard you plan to abuse the boot during racing.

Cool thanks for the reply. I run senior c so im def not the fastest nor do i abuse my equipment at all. May give these a try. I tried the tech 7s and they are awesome. I may look at getting a pair of those also. Nowhere near as stiff as past boots ive tried. Thanks again

I’m thinking about getting the low version, just bought a dual sport. Is there any reason you would recommend the high version over the low?

Only if you plan on doing alot of river crossings or the higher protection. These are not motocross boots by any means. During warmer riding you'll appreciate the lower boots as your upper leg won't be sweating

In my opinion they break in relatively quick after some light walking & a couple rides in the boots. After that they maintain durability great & have long lasting tread life. 👍
