@@DarthSillac 😳 WOW! You've worked on a TON of incredible racing games! You didn't just work on them; you're a team leader. Litetally ALL of my favorites. SEGA, Codemasters. You worked on Horizon 5?! Man! That was such a modest comment from someone with so many incredible games on their resume. I have to say, seeing The Dirt and Dirt Rally games running in previews for the first time was just insane. The Sega Rally games instantly bring me back to my childhood. They're legendary. Forza Horizon 5 to me is one of the best racing games ever made. For people who love cars and racing games it's literally like heaven. Thank you so much for adding a comment in here. REALLY cool of you!

I have great news

Just want to mention that Bugbear, who developed the excellent FlatOut series and most recently Wreckfest, were the developers of Revo PSP. That’s why the handling and physics are a bit different, and more similar to FlatOut. Their port of FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage on PSP is one of the best racing games on PSP, and probably why they got to do the PSP version of Revo in the first place. SRS may be gone, but Bugbear is still out there making great racing games!

I played Revo on a psp. Honestly, one of the best racing games on that little portable, and considering it had Gran turismo, Outru 2sp, Ridge racer and nfs most wanted it is saying a lot.

@@F0r3v3rT0m0rr0w It's not, but still very fun. It has an arcade feel to it that modern racers don't have. It has fun drifting and the traction is also arcade-ish. The psp is an underrated console.

I follow a lot of KZreadrs but I have the most respect for you dude. I’m 38 and completely grew up a Sega boy. All the sonic games and nights into dreams, your videos take me back.

Still play Revo and Outrun 2006 on my Vita from time to time. Fantastic games! I’ve always thought it was dumb how reviewers claimed this wasn’t “realistic” enough.. ITS AN ARCADE RACER!! Simple, straightforward, skill based! And that’s prefect. Games should be reviewed based on what they’re striving to be.

Sega Rally Revo was actually my first Sega Rally game. It was one of my first PSP games and I had fun revisiting it whenever I booted up the PSP.

Sega Rally Revo was the first game I beat on my PSP, I still remember the feeling I got when I unlocked that hot wheels car, I felt like the coolest kid in the world lol

by FAR one of the most underrated racing games i have ever played As much as i love the more serious rally sims i always find myself coming back to revo for some reason Its such a fun game

yup an astonish game frankly that most will have passed over likely from the tough requirements early on as you learn the nuances of car control

I still play this on my modern pc. Runs at 4k 144hz like a dream. Looks incredible too. 👌🏻

​​@@SegaLordXthere are two ways to Play Sega Rally Revo championship mode at smooth 60 fps: first one is pc version using cheat engine with speedhack at 0.96 value ( Best activate it in race), second is ps3 version with rpcs3 using vblank at 120hz (Best japan version because is the Only one with force feedback on gamepads). The Quick race mode can also be played at 60 fps on PC if you pause the race and click in restart race option.

Asl oto bad we can play online on emulators, seems broken or not working yet online , Xenia FPS is bad, not emulated, rpsc3 no online support yet, only original xbox works online

I remember seeing the original Sega Rally at my local bowling alley in England back in the early to mid 90's and my oldest brother just said "That's the most impressive looking game I've ever seen" and although I didn't say it, I agreed with him 100%. But it wasn't just the visuals that had initially drawn you in but the amazing playability you experienced once you'd parted with a Quid. It still holds a special place in my arcade favourites and would really like to see a home port of some kind.

I'm very young so I never grew up with these games Barely turning 18 in a few months I have no nostalgia for these games, but they're so magical that I basically get second hand nostalgia for them. I wish we got more games like this from Sega and just the games industry at large. They feel timeless to me

@@jonbourgoin182 I feel like I missed out on the Golden Age of gaming in the sense of it maturing and going through so much innovation Which sucks, I didn't get to grow up seeing us going from SNES to N64, or the jump from Ps1 to Ps2 Its easy for me to say as a nerd I wish I could've been there to experience ot first hand, but it's also cause I'm a nerd in the present I can get to appreciate and nerd out over all this stuff so easily I feel like I'm living in the golden age of modern games in the sense of the love for older titles is growing more and more fonder for even new audiences. Especially with rereleases. So I'm sad I wasn't there for when everything was changing so fast. But glad to be here, able to gush over these games and their legacy in the present, and share them so easily.

@@cravenmarigold7750 You may have missed that, but you are getting to live some other revolutions, and most likely in gaming. A.I. may well change how games are developed, how the graphic fidelity will increase and above all how the game systems, including storytelling and whatnot, will react actively to your own choices. Also, there are some amazing games coming out these days and some others that were release in the last couple of decades, that kids from the 90s and 80s could have never even dreamed of.

I actually have the soundtrack to this game on CD. The music was outsourced to a production house called Bob & Barn, which is probably why a lot of it sounds like incidental music that you’d hear on TV.

Many of the people behind this went to Playground Games and you see the DNA of these games in the Forza Horizon series. Most recent Rally Adventure expansion for Forza Horizon 5 is the closest thing we'll get to a SEGA Rally.

@@nrXicA lot also went back to Codemasters. DiRT Showdown could also be said to show some of that DNA, though ultimately DiRT Rally became the end-goal passion project.

When I went through a really hard time in my life, I used to play this game to escape, and played it to death for over two years. Got perfect on each league which is quite a challenge. The game was intended to be different from the simulations and to this date still has one of the best stage design from the Canyons, Safari, and Alpine.

Growing up i wanted a Celica, just because of my love for SEGA Rally. SEGA arcade racers are a big part of my childhood.

It’s a lot of fun with a Logitech wheel. I have the PS3 version. It’s hard as hell though but I still have fun with it. I expected an arcade racer, and that’s exactly what I got so I wasn’t disappointed.

I revisited Revo on the 360 a while back and I ended up playing it for a good few hours. It was a pleasant surprise and I’m so happy to have this game in my collection

The Saturn core on the MiSTer is almost there. Otherwise a Fenrir is great.

I absolutely adore this game I re-bought it a year ago after losing my original copy over 8 years ago to fully complete the game. Was definitely worth my time

I still have SEGA RALLY REVO on my PS3 backlog. Cant belive that in 2023, SEGA RALLY REVO is almost 17 years old now.

I loved Sega Rally Revo! I loved all the Sega Rally games. I spent so much time on all of them, couldn't get enough haha..

Interesting when people say 'lack of tuning options and realism' as a bad tbing. For me that immediately gets a thumbs up 😂

Sega Rally is one of the reasons I love the 94-96' Toyota Celica/GT-Four, plus I just like how it looks. I've always wanted to find one for sale but I think they're kind of rare, at least I don't come across them all too much. Never played Revo and too bad it's been removed from Steam so the PC version is only playable if you own a physical copy, that is unless you have a peg leg.

Another great video mate much appreciated. I still play Revo on my PSP Go it's far from perfect but a good time killer having a run around the tracks.

It's the only Sega Rally I've ever been good at. Quite a good game. Sega when they feel like it make arcade racers that just look amazing and fun.

Sega's story is riddled with right thing, wrong time. When Revo was released, the video game industry was all about realism, realism, realism. Releasing a game that focused more on arcade action was a death sentence at that time, especially at a $60 price point. For a lower price, and released now, I bet Revo could have done fairly well for itself.

Speaking of Codemasters, Colin McRae rally series back in the days (maybe RBR also) are truly remarkable for the realistic rally stage setups, Sega Rally seems too simple for that, just like a rally equivalent of OutRun

I had this game on 360 when i was seven and it looks just as good as I remember. I loved this game.

Good review! I never played Sega Rally, but I do remember seeing it back in the arcades in the '90s. The games were very beautiful! I actually don't mind simple, arcadey racing as sometimes you just want to play something where you just take to the track for an adrenaline rush with no extra frills! It is a shame that the Sega Rally series petered out and also the closing of Sega Racing Studio. I feel like studios just come and go in the modern gaming industry. It seems like there are just higher stakes in modern game development since many titles are bigger budget and it takes longer for a game to be released. I still think there is a market for simple, fast arcade racing games for those of us who grew up with them during the '90s!

I got it on pc in 2010 and it is still my one of my most favourite arcade racers. I replay it every year and psp version occasionally.

My favorite rally game, even over SR and SR2. The gameplay is fun, Ai challenging, theres a ton of Championships to do, and tons to unlock. Shame it didnt get the love it deserved!

SR Revo is the first game I have memories of playing. It was available at a PS3 at a supermarket I went to when I was around 4 or 5 years old and they let people play on it to make them interested on the platform, and it was love at first sight for me. I vividly remember repeatedly begging my parents to take me there so I could play it. I was so sad to find out that the Steam release got delisted when I got a PC. Getting it through the high seas nowadays is no biggie but they should bring this back so more people can know it exists.

Seeing how you just released this today and how many views it already has shows the love for this game.

Sega Rally was one of those iconic games. One of the few racing games where you could truly get into the zone & be "at one" with your car. As students we played the Saturn port relentlessly - shaving hundreds of a second off our times, learning every single nuance of every track, every gear shift, every undulation .Pure racing joy. Like so many Sega classic racing titles every single course is carefully crafted & every corner is memorable (and therefore an event!) Speaking of which the Saturn port is a masterpiece of coding - just pure sorcery to run that well on the system and still ultra responsive & playable today. I have the arcade port that came with the 2006 PS2 release but the Saturn version just has a certain something about it. Played SR3 at an arcade show thinking it was probably going to be Revo but in an arcade cabinet & was blown away by the difference. Truly a lovely surprise. Glad I downloaded the Online Arcade version for pure arcade thrills. Always feels that it was a little misunderstood at its time of release. People seemed to want sim racers or to be able to tune their cars & customise the paint job etc but there is always a place for pure arcade racing. Game Over Yeah!

They was no game like this for a 12 year old me the mud effects and physics where something truly special even now

I had Sega Rally on Xbox 360 here in the UK. But the revo name was dropped over here. Tough game and a shame that studio was shut down. A modern Sega GT would have been cool.

Back then I have played it like a crazy, despite having PC that barely ran it. And very recently I came back to it. I've spent a few evenings with it, had some good time. Even if mostly nostalgic, it's still decent arcade rally racing.

Absolutely love this game. Still one of my top 10 games on the Xbox 360 (not, RACING games, ALL games!) and I have a still have a copy on my shelf. I remember all the reviews here in the UK being pretty stellar - Eurogamer gave it a 9/10. Anyone complaining about the lack of realism was missing the point - it's an arcade game and it doesn't need tuning and set-up options! It's all about the gameplay and in that area it excelled. Would happily still play it today if it worked in backwards compatability.

sega rally games are always a bomb. i ve played most of them, even arcade. i´m still on fire. codemasters dirt series is very similar and i love dirt too.

I'm glad you pointed out the difference in the camera for Sega Rally 3. I know people notice it, but people forget to point it out sometimes, especially if they end up liking it. I hate it. It makes my eyes and brain very unhappy, and I'm not exaggerating. I'm not especially prone to motion sickness, but I think I'd get a bad case of it if I spent more than a few minutes with the game. It feels to me like I'm making the world spin instead of controlling the car. The looser camera is what I'd call a proper chase camera as it follows the track. For me it's a lot more natural. I think the developers of the earlier games like Daytona USA and Sega Rally understood that the camera locked to the car would be unpleasant for many people, and later developers didn't really know that, at least consciously. Would be cool if that was an option.

I found the 360 version of revo second hand and cheap a few years back before I was much of a sega fan, I had a pretty decent time and even had some fun playing it with my sisters. It's nice to see this game get more coverage, I might have to give it another play some time

Also just wanted to add, if I ever get enough money together I would love a duo cabinet for racing games. I know Extreme arcade cabinets makes these kinda of stuff, but it's quite expensive for me. But one day I might get it. For now I just want a arcade cabinet. The Arcades just felt different compared to playing at home. As you said, you have to pirate the games...yet I think if Sega made home arcades with their games on it, I think it would sell pretty well depending on the costs of course. A console now cost around 500-600 and then the games. An Arcade with screen and everything with around 2500 games cost you around 1500. If Sega ever do that I think they would be surprised on how many they would sell.

Just got this game for ps3! I am a huge racing game fan and the controls for this one were a bit difficult but I'm enjoying it! 90's arcade fun is the best way to describe it!

Sega Rally on Xbox 360 was one of m'y favourite game. I'm quite proud to get 1000G with it. It was a really good Time.

Sega Rally Revo is one of my favorite racing games of all time - probably in my top 3 along with Wipeout 3 Special Edition and Wave Race 64, and just ahead of games like Ridge Racer Type 4, Outrun 2006, Burnout 3 Takedown, and the original Sega Rally. What I look for in a racing game is speed, precise controls, fun and style. I want to spend my time on the track, not in menus tuning and tweaking. Sega Rally Revo delivers exactly what I want and does it better than pretty much any other game out there. The perfect "last hurrah" for old-school arcade racing. I've seen many complaints that it's too hard to control - the steering is twitchy and the grip loose - and yes, it takes a bit getting used to but once you do, the feeling of intense speed combined with just barely being able to maintain perfect control of your car is absolutely unmatched.

All I remember is the one for Sega Saturn. Man it took up a lot of my time.

2006 is still my favorite entry in the series

Sega Rally Revo was one of the best games to play in 3D(Nvidia 3D Vision) back in the day. It also had full racing wheel support on PC. It's a fun game and I enjoyed the arcade feel to it. 👍

That low 30 frames per second seems to account for half of the problem. The other half seems to be mastering the art of throttling OFF with subtle wheel corrections instead of flooring it down and spinning around like crazy.

I miss the simplicity of arcade racers. Long live these games: ridge racer 7, motor storm, pgr4, sega rally, etc

I honesty think the pendulum has swung back and there’s a market for these style of games. If only Sega had a competent management.

I tried Sega Rally 3 recently on Teknoparrot , what a game! I remember a ps3 conversion years ago.

Loved every Sega Rally title , it was a magic time for video games when the focus was pure fun & entertainment. Something missing from many recent titles. I’ve got so many Sega/Namco arcade ports on my PS3 it’s like a arcade in the home 😎👌

I think over the years since Sega has become third party many of their games that haven't been Sonic (and now Yakuza) just seemed to have gotten lost in the shuffle and possibly would have been noticed and praised more of they were on a Sega console where they would have stood out a bit more. These days as a result they seem very unlikely to release games that aren't Sonic, Yakuza, Total War, Football Manager and Shin Megami Tensai games and games that are made with their old franchises tend to be done by third parties and usually Sega doesn't even publish them. It's a shame because after the Dreamcast died they actually made some great games for each of the three consoles that generation that would have been a great collection if they were on a Sega system.

Bought this awesome sucker in early 2023 for my 360 and boy is it a beautiful game! I was and will always be an Arcade style fan. I dont need no costume parts, RPG elements or other stupid stuff to enjoy a game.

I bounced right off Sega Rally on 360 when I first tried it, but once you get to grips (no pun intended) with the bizarre handling model, it's a terrific racer. Really underrated.

I loved Sega Rally on the 360. Had many great racing battles with online friends, a brilliant arcade racer. Really wish it was backwards compatible with the Series X. Got the PSP one too which is also a lot of fun, looks great on that little console. Managed to get the SROA versions too on 360 and PS3, glad I did now it's been delisted. Defo need another SR in our lives or at least get the old ones working on the latest consoles.
