Forgotten Feminists: Ghada: Escaped from Saudi Arabia, now a proud Texan
As her family slept, Saudi born Ghada quietly escaped from the house and eventually out of the patriarchal society she was born into. She had to lose everything in order to gain her freedom. Now, after seeking asylum in the US, she- along with her two black dogs- is about to start a new chapter of her life with her Texan groom Jim.

“Forgotten Feminists, with host Yasmine Mohammed, is an opportunity for you to join in on the conversations with inspirational women from the Muslim majority world who have fought and who have overcome. You may know some names already like Malala Yousufzai, and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. However, there are countless women who have survived
insurmountable odds, who are overcoming the most vicious of obstacles, and whose names you will not recognize. They are the unsung heroes. The warriors hidden in the shadows. They are the Forgotten Feminists”

I'm Iranian and I'm so sorry for all the pain we had to go through for NO good reason
عظيمة يا ياسمين شكرًا لاهتمامك بقضايا النسوية العربية نحتاج مثلك كثيير ، استمتعت جدًا بهذا الحوار شكرًا لك و لغادة و كل الناس الجميلة في هذا البث.
Love this channel and what you’re doing Yasmin. I hope one day I’ll find a solution to the severe mental and physical illnesses these people caused me and tell my story as an ex-Muslim. A lot of people don’t know what’s going on here in Europe..

Wait! You have a youtube channel? Thank Goodness...That has been my dream for as long as I have read your book...yes yes yes...I am so happy for you ,😍😍😍 congratulations !!!
I go through the same thing with clothes. I finally just wore an outfit that was form fitting the past 4 days. No one stared at me😂 no one yelled that they wanted to cover up. Nobody cared. I used to wear niqab, Abaya, and khimars.
Hamed Abd Al Samad is truly amazing.
Thankyou so much for this episode ghada and yasmine, so much truth was said!!!!
شكرا لكم 💐🌸💐💐
That really resonated with me, when Ghada says how Western society invalidates our personal experiences with rejection and being discarded by our Islamic families and society, by saying ‘well, I too was treated wrongly and so I understand.’ No, they don’t understand. Only Ex Muslims understand each other’s pain. We will not get any validation from Christians or other faiths. I am a Christian now, and I can tell you that I have STILL yet to find anyone who understands what we go through. They simply cannot.

They cannot understand because they have never been through those situations and this is why these stories and channels such as these are incredibly important to make others understand just a little better about what people have to endure and hopefully humanity can evolve to a level where everyone is respected and understood a little better.
You are so strong!
I love Ghada! She’s a sweetheart
Brave woman- شكرا غده

One human being, society or religion should not impose on another.
❤
I learnt to swim when I was in my late 20s although I didn't grow up in a Muslim country. I was just a very careful and a bit scared child by my own nature. I'm still not a very good swimmer but it's so joyful and pleasant to swim that I wholeheartedly recommend it. Many grown ups can't swim, especially if they're form the northern climate and don't live by the sea, it's totally ok to sign up for lessons as an adult 😊
What does her family think about her now?
